Waiting and watching for the social media complaints of lack of salt trucks in this morning's travel mess.

Plows are definitely out. County scanner just reported one hitting a car and pushing it into a ditch... then kept on driving.

To be fair they just gave an update, the plow didn't hit them after all.

Got all the way to work and didn't see a single truck. Did see two accidents though.

The side streets were not salted in Morton either. Without 4WD, I would not have been able to get up the hill and out of my subdivision.

Once I got on the state route, it had been salted. But there was still a car in the ditch on the curvy part of Meadows. They must have just went off the road moments before I drove past, because they were still going back and forth in the grass, trying to get out. I suspect it was futile, the way their tires were spinning.

@joepyeweed ..Does the Morton street crew even exist? I have lived here 10 years and I have never seen a truck out and..the roads are the worse..no matter whether it's snow or ice..everything will be clear in East Peoria..get to the over pass by the old Kmart and it's like no ever touched anything.

@craftywoman :

I actually think Morton does a better job on the streets than East Peoria. At least, where I live, and I even live on a dead end cul-de-sac on the very west side of town. We will see a snow plow twice before my FIL who lives nearby in East Peoria ever sees one.

I remember one very bad storm Morton public works had sent a construction grader down our street, because the snow plows could not traverse the hill there.

Lets see what weather we get and how its taken care of. I have always known someone with a plow truck. Things really get bad I call them and they plow. Yes sometimes its the whole street or block where I live.

They put plenty of salt on the streets. I wonder if they can write that off as a loss because of ice not happening.
