Gatlinburg, TN fires

There are a number of former Peorians that have moved to Gatlinburg, TN over the years. Even the mayor there is from the Peoria area. Word is that some homes of former Peorians and the mayors house have been lost in the fire. So far as I have heard everyone, that we know of, from the Peoria area has been accounted for and no one was injured in the rush to escape.

Let us all keep them in our thoughts .

FYI. That pic is not the Gatlinburg fire. That picture was taken several years ago someplace else. It is cool pic though.

@joepyeweed

It could very well be one of the fires in CA in recent years.

I remember seeing that photo a few years ago, I think it won an award. I forget exactly where I seen it though.

I think it was out west though.

found it and the description is:

" Western Montana's Bitterroot National Forest is the setting for today's picture. On August 6, 2000, several forest fires converged there, resulting in one tremendous inferno. The fire engulfed everything in its path, including the wildlife that was unable to escape the blazes.

This photo was hurriedly snapped by John McColgan, a USDA Forest Service fire behavior analyst who happened to be on the scene. He saw that two deer had run into the river in an attempt to escape the heat and almost certain death, so he quickly snapped the photo using a digital camera that he was carrying with him. "

There was a exhibit on photo journalism at the Newseum. That was a long while ago, but I swear the picture was in the exhibit.

Just goes to show Photos or Words. What do you believe good thing for google. I would be more worries about the people where the fire is and the animals. These trees are what help to keep us alive.

All the history of some of these people are gone poof up in flames. Hard to imagine what hardships to have nothing. All the animals will be running wild no place to hide for them that survived.

There is much more investigative work that needs to be done. Apparently, there was an open bible , that was not totally burned, found near the fire. The verse that it was open to has the investigators quite curious about exactly how the fire started.

@billybob People look for hope in all ways. I have clean houses and found Bibles open to different pages. After cleaning these houses you never know what you'll find.
