Peoria County Inmate Suicide
Do we think this is going the Sandra Bland route? That $1.9 million dollar verdict was on the grounds that the jail didn't perform checks on her every hour. They put this girl who had a prescription for bipolar disorder in a segregation cell that has a metal cage perfect for threading a sheet through and then don't seem to come back for two & a half hours? I hope her family gets a lawyer who will ask to see the surveillance tapes from that area. If we are going to lock up addicts and mentally ill people, we have to make sure we are keeping them safe and not just making it super easy for them to kill themselves.
