Police shootings, reaction time and the OODA loop. Give this a try. As the video says...be honest with yourself. Remember, you want to see your son go to his first day of kindergarten, or your daughter to her first prom...

In the first 16 seconds "Officers are unwilling to gamble with their own lives by placing their safety in hands of an uncooperative or erratic subject".

Who defines "uncooperative" or "erratic"?

Maybe they should have chosen a different career. Or maybe they should have been trained that shoot first, ask questions later is not a strategy for dealing with suspects.

@shifty :

Well, the officer is the one on the scene assessing the situation. Who do YOU think defines it? And if it's not the officer, who would be in a better position to do so?

Just asking, since you seem to have all the answers.

Better yet, get out from behind your keyboard and pin on a badge.

The first question is why is he walking to his vehicle.

You have been ask by a Law enforcement officer to stand here.

So you don't have to listen.

I think the biggest problem is the first one "perceived threat"

If some people (not all people) perceive anyone with darker skin as a threat no matter what the situation is....

It's easy for people who've never worn the badge to criticize. If skin color by itself is a perceived threat, you need a new job. In the context of this thread though, that suggestion was ludicrous and an obvious red herring that was tossed out in the absence of an intelligent response to an uncomfortable conversation.

How about a BB gun at night? An unloaded semi-automatic pistol? Both are perceived threats, both would justify the use of a lethal force response. Both would probably be met by some people on this board as "racist" if the victim was black.

How would you feel if the gun in question was pointed at your child, and the cop chose to "wait and see?" Would you be okay with that? Hell no you wouldn't. You'd be screaming "shoot him, shoot him" and God forbid the cop doesn't and your child is injured or killed, you'd be suing the cop, the department and the government that employed him.

But you expect him to stand there when it's HIS life on the line and "wait and see."

Hypocritical and ignorant.

@tntrecycling :

with all due respect, that horse has been beaten to death on the other thread, it's not what we're talking about here. By now we ALL understand that you're okay with the police executing people for the slightest inkling of disrespect. Let's stay on topic.

@AV8R Why did he turn and want to get something out of his vehicle.

How are you to deal with it.

Like I have said I have no problem with listening to what the officer ask cause it just might cost me my life.

Sometimes its not always wise to do as you please.
