We've been in at least 10 times in the last couple years and have always received great service. The ribs and rib tips are an exceptionally good taste and prices are reasonable. I highly recommend their catfish fillets, the breading on these are crispy and they aren't dripping with oil the way other places prepare their fish. Consider the Smo-king Pit the best reason to visit Northwoods

Absolutly loved the food. Great service as well. Pricing is ok but worth it. Will be back. Dont like the location.

We have eaten there numerous times, to the point where they know what I want before I sit down. It's ALWAYS great food and you are treated like you are somebody not just a couple of $$$. You never go away hungry. Well worth the price of the meal.

Went today for lunch after reading reviews here. Food was OK, not great. I got a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and a soda for ten with tip. I agree that if it were anywhere but the mall it would do better. The atmosphere is sort of mixed - nice decor with wooden cafeteria chairs. Sandwich was pulled pork with barbecue sauce added after. I prefer it to be cooked in, but this was relatively tasty. Asked both my lunch partners if this was doable again and they responded "YES"

The Smo-King Pit is a hidden gem in Northwoods Mall.
The ribs are great. You can order them by the bone (three bones, four bones) with sides, and everything is served piping hot. The service has always been good when we've been in, too.
The prices are reasonable.

Big, meaty ribs that are lightly coated with sauce, not doused in sauce, so you can taste the meat and spice rub. Extra sauce served on the side. The pulled pork sandwich is the same way: vey lightly sauced, pulled smoked pork. Like their baked beans and coleslaw, too. Hear their catfish is good, but I don't go to a BBQ joint for catfish.
