Look at the map of Texas....see the inlet at the east side of it? That is Galveston. Kingwood is about 50 miles North of Galveston. If you can see county lines on the map, we are near a lake and a downward point in the county line. Here is a link to give you a better idea:

http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radblast.asp?zoomm y p e =N0R&lat=0&lon=0&label=you&showstorms=0&map.x=551.5&map.y=380¢erx=656¢ery=880&lightning=0&showlabels=1&rainsnow=0

Houston is the Bayou City...build on bayous that take northern rain and flooded waters to the coast/Gulf of Mexico. Sometimes, oftentimes, heavy rains causes a back up and we get flooded.

We need rain. Behind right now. We'll take the rain but not the floods.

Stay safe Kingwood.. We will be thinking and praying for your safety. I know how it is to dodge those hurricanes, my last year in Florida was the year of the infamous Katrina... although Katrina barely sputtered for us we were hit by four that year, right in a row. The first two were harder than Katrina on us by far. In Orlando, where I lived we just battened down the hatches and put our fences up again the next morning. My garage and fence took the biggest hits. Well.. that and picking all the yard furniture out of the pool.. lol Over all, I really couldn't complain. I hope it's going to be ok for you.. if not, we've got a forum party on the 3rd... perhaps this would be a good time to visit.

I read the warning and I know where Kingwood is, but I didn't take the time to figure out if you were in the path... Have fun in the rain/flood!

We will be fine. It is to make land fall sound far south of here. They say will get some rain off and on and some wind. I'll believe it, when I see it.

Still no rain....storm is way south of us. Weather radar shows us getting the very tip of it. I am not very hopeful we will get much rain at all. Weather radar shows it's coming....but I'm not holding my breath....LOL
