Your favorite crock-pot meal

I love crock pot meals for those really busy days (all of them?) I have 1 in right now and it made me wonder if anyone had any crockpot meals their family loves and would you care to share it?
This 1 is a favorite here...chicken and dumplings in the crock pot. I'll list it as written then tell you my changes. 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves 2 tablespoons butter 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup 1 onion, finely diced 2 (10 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces Add to Recipe Box My folders: Add to Shopping List Add a Personal Note DIRECTIONS Place the chicken, butter, soup, and onion in a slow cooker, and fill with enough water to cover. Cover, and cook for 5 to 6 hours on High. About 30 minutes before serving, place the torn biscuit dough in the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center. I switched to...1 can of cream of chicken soup and 1 jar of chicken or turkey gravy. I also just put my boneless skinless chicken breasts in right out of the freezer..cuz I always forget to plan these meals. I also omit the water and add a can of chicken broth. Another fast, cheap and easy meal is simply put a whole chicken in the crockpot upside down and empty a bottle of your favorite bbq sauce over it. Let it cook all day and it's usually falling off the bones by dinner. It's delicious and tender. We have it w/ just biscuits and some potato salad or frozen fries, or a salad...ready set done. |

ya, the crock pot is a mainstay at our house as my GF works 12 hour days and I work from 8-16 hour days. We split cooking duties, and an all day crock pot meal hits the spot after a long day. I am for sure trying this recipe in the next week or so. Thanks for posting!

Corn Beef, Cabbage (washed and cut into manageable pieces)baby carrots, small red potatoes (washed and put in whole). Corned beef fat side down add the cabbage on top and about a cup of water, cook on high for one hour then reduce to medium. Add the baby carrots and let it cook all day. Check periodically to make sure the water level is fine.
You can substitute Beef or Pork roast if you wish but if I do the beef I add lots of mushrooms and onions to the mix. About mid way through you can add a quarter cup of flour and it will thicken as it cooks. Either way it's a great meal. |

Has anyone ever tried the "CrockPot Classics"? Those are really good also, and save time on any measuring, cutting up and dicing.

I've tried a few of the frozen meals. The chicken & dumplings is pretty good, but I wouldn't buy the beef stew one again.

I love cabbage no matter how it's cooked, but I prefer it cooked lightly... cook it too long and it smells real bad.

mmhmm, but how do u make yours chyah?
I have a recipe from a girlfriend for italian beef. beef roast (whatever is on sale) an onion can of italian style diced tomatoes can of plain diced tomatoes salt and pepper jar of sliced salad peppers (half drained) and some italian seasoning (I think that is all of the ingredients) Put it all together, drain (reserving some of the stock) shred, put it back and put some of the stock back in it. Tastes great served on onion rolls. Tastes even better the next day. |

Ok, I have 1 to add. This is so yummy...down home country taste w/o a lot of work or hours in the kitchen.
Roast beef w/ gravy. 1 boneless beef sirloin tip roast (about 4 lbs) 1/2 cup all purpose flour, divided 1 envelope onion soup mix 1 envelope brown gravy mix 2 cups cold water Hot mashed potatoes (If I'm rushed for time, I use bagged mashed potatoes, much better than instant and take 3 mins to cook plz don't tell my mother lol) Cut roast in half; rub w/ 1/4 cup flour. Place in a 5 qt slow cooker. In a bowl, combine soup and gravy mixes and remaining flour; stir in water until blended. Pour over roast. Cover and cook on low 6-8 hrs. Slice; serve w/ mashed potatoes and gravy. |
