In 1999 when Romney left Bain to go run the Olympics, he did exactly what Steve Jobs did when he took a leave of absence for health reasons. This is standard industry practice and I doubt you or the President are prepared to call Jobs a felon - which if it is your core belief and campaign message that everyone gets a "fair shake" you don't randomly apply rules when they are in your political best interest.

If you attend board meetings you ARE involved in the decision-making! Or at least you are accountable.... you can't claim accountable for the successes and not the baggage too.

I do think it's an issue. I want to know that the guy I vote for isn't shady. Do I think he is? I don't know... not enough EVIDENCE yet! Without the evidence, there will always be that grain of doubt.

We are going to be stuck with a sucky POTUS regardless of how the election turns out.

Well with one it's a certainty, the other one you just suspect.

I'd go with the suspicion. Then at least there's a shot at an honorable, competent POTUS.

I don't see one as more or less shady than the other. I see it as a lot of internet **** slung around. Bad decisions, bad policies is one thing, shady is another.

I don't think of Romney as being shady, either. My impression of him is a reputable, successful business man. I think the only reason he isn't releasing his returns is because the low tax rates that will show.
