Why the average American can't run for President
Jul 9, 2012 - 07:18 am

There is no way in hell the "average George" could raise 106 million dollars a month to run a presidential campaign. I'm not specifically picking on Romney here; I'm sure President Obama raises as much.

Maybe instead of term limits, we need campaign spending limits...

We need A State constitution that negates all Federally mandated laws and regulations. I've always thought anyone seeking potus an utter psychopath, bar none.

I guess I should have been more clear. This shouldn't apply to just the POTUS; it should apply to any governmental position which is voted on by the public....and the public, not government officials, should determine what the limit amounts should be.

This is why some politicians are not voted in, they are bought and paid for. Only they get paid upfront, and then they make sure the buyers are rewarded after being sworn in. (Again, I emphasize SOME politicians)

This is exactly why, no matter what side of the aisle you are on, Citizens United is the worst decision of our generation.

Its certainly true that the average george is not going to be able to raise that kind of money.

However when you look at Clinton, Reagan and Obama - they all came from fairly modest means. so its not impossible... however its much easier if you are extremely wealthy like the Bush's, Romney's, Kennedy's etc.
