Cavuto has lost all sense of perspective, if he thinks spending $250k on the gravesite of one of the most important political figure in US history, is "pork"...

$250k is a large amount from a personal perspective, but it's nothing at the state budget level, which is, literally, one million times bigger than this project.

To put it into a perspective the average person can understand: If the Illinois state budget were the equivalent of a $50,000 annual salary, this would be literally like complaining about how a nickel was spent. (Check my math: Illinois state budget: 27 billion, this cost: 250k which is =~ 1/1,000,000th of the state budget... 1/1,000,000th of $50,000 = about 5 cents)

Put another way: This project costs only about 1/12th of a penny per person in the USA in taxes, to preserve the grave of the #1 or #2 most important political figure in US history. I think we can spare 1/12th of a penny. (Check the math: US population at 300,000,000. $250k project = $.00083 per person).

Your math is impeccable; although as a Conservative even if it is 5 cents I think it is a waste; especially considering our massive debt.

"Nickel and Dime the tax payer" Sure this project as you so elegantly illustrated is nothing.. multiply this type of reckless spending by hundreds if not thousands and it adds up.

Personally I couldn't give two ****s about Lincoln's "tomb". How many times has he been moved or his tomb broken into?

Hell whats another $250k to dump into the well that this country is becoming.

Why don't we spend some money on a monument to lets say, Crazy Horse or Geronimo? Oh yeah because the Native American are considered less than citizens than the illegals.

And how many people know about it? How much effort is put into making it known by the Government?

It isn't so much the "project" itself.. it is this casual attitude when it comes to tax payer dollars.. like we are just a pot for any politician with an agenda and project to piss in..

How many generations does a species have to live on a continent before they are considered native?

Species? You mean Homo sapiens?

What you refer to as "Native Americans" were peoples of Asian decent... they arrived on this continent via a land bridge... they then fought amongst themselves, one tribe consumed another, slaved the people.. their territory grew, etc.

They did this amongst themselves for thousands of years before Europeans arrived on the continent and basically did the SAME thing. This nonsense about land rights and "Native" is absurd.

When an Indian tribe attacked another they enslaved the women and children and killed the men. Our way; though I'm not defending the tactics used.. were mild compared to how the Indians treated one another.

EDIT*
and then you have Schock; lol I apologize this wayy off topic.

"Our Way", which was essentially a holocaust, was far from mild.

How did the Asians get to their continent, and the Europeans, where are they "native" too?

joepyeweed,

Is your question about the evolution of the human species? There are massive amounts of data out there in regards to the migration of Humans..

My understanding; and I think history illustrates this well.. is land belong to he who could hold it. I don't consider anyone "Native"

I'd love to have an open discussion on this topic; another thread perhaps?
