Yes I do he was a common man just like you or me. What people have proclaimed him to be is some thing different.////////////// The fear of God is to loose him not to fear him in any way. God love us and does not want any one to be distroyed.

He was your religions so called prophet, he made how many claims about the world ending and gave dates. Now remember that verse I posted for you earlier?

They lead you into fear and further mind control tactics, aka brainwashing. Fear gives them power over you.

Hmm, interesting because I've never been so fearless in all my life. I know what comes next after this life and I know my family will be okay if I'm taken tomorrow. They will be at peace. Being a follower of Christ has given me that peace...the exact opposite of what you're predicting. In fact, I bet if you talk to other true followers of Christ they will tell you the same thing.

I recently read the book "Columbine." It was eye opening and very sad but the part that stuck with me the most was when the author (who witnessed all the after events as a reporter) wrote about the families of the kids waiting for their children to be bussed to them from the school after this thing went down. One by one families were reunited until only the last 13 were left. That's when they knew their kids had been the victims. Then the reporter described how each family reacted. They were all devastated, of course, except that the Christian families were more at peace than the others. In the long run, the Christian families had an easier time dealing with this devastation than the other families. Why? Because of God's strength and love and the promise of life ever after.

Tell me, how is that brainwashing and fear? It's not. You just have no other words in your vocabulary to describe the awesome power of God so you choose those words.

If you don't "fear" God then you aren't following what the Bible tells you to do.

Exodus 14:31 And when the Israelites saw the great power the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.

Exodus 20:18 When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance and said to Moses, "Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die." (This is one of my favorites when somebody claims God is speaking to them)

Leviticus 19:14 Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the Lord.

Leviticus 25:17 25:17 Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God. I am the Lord your God.

Want more examples?

You realize you're confusing fear with reverence, right? Fear God doesn't mean we cower in the corner when we feel His presence or that we live in constant fear of what He's going to do to us next. No! It means we have the utmost respect for Him and all He does for us, so much so that we don't want to disappoint Him because we love Him.

Our church actually had a teaching on the meaning of "fear God" and I believe our pastor said the literal translation of the word was closer to reverence than to your definition of fear. I have copious notes on this but I'm currently enjoying my spot on the couch so I'll point you to this website: http://solitaryroad.com/a140.html

So once again you claim the meaning has changed to meet your needs at the moment. I expected as much.

How much of it did you read? And did you just read it or did you actually study it?

And yes, I read it cover to cover two years ago. I'm currently on my second go around and realizing just how much I missed the first time. I've also been studying it seriously for the past 2-3 years.

Yes I read it and I have studied it.

If you read it and pay attention you will find contradiction after contradiction, not to mention different meanings from the same verse.

Every verse has different meanings to the person reading it. The Bible is a complex philosophical and moral lesson. Using it literally to shoot it down is a waste of time

Yep, I agree with Hip.

How long did you study the Bible, Seal?

I'm discovering that the contradictions others claim arent contradictions at all. One example is how Judas died. Did he hang himself or did he fall? My answer is "What does it matter? The guy died in both scenarios so what's the big deal?" I'm not going to let something like that stop my pursuit of Christ. It's not worth it.

Careful Froggy, that's a slippery slope argument. Did Christ die for our sins or just for being a criminal/heretic? "What does it matter? The guy died in both scenarios so what's the big deal?"

I spent about 15 years of my life studying the Bible, went to church every Sunday and Wednesday. Does that count?

Just because you go to church every Sunday doesn't make you a Christian anymore than sitting in a garage makes you a car. So no, that doesn't really answer the question.

Sterling, there is no contradiction in how Jesus died. All the Gospels are clear on who He was and why He was here. My point is that non-believers make big issues about the littlest things in the Bible while completely ignoring the big issues.

How did I know you were going to say something like that?
