There's no "version". There's the Bible. I can't tell you I have an affiliation with any "version". Not Catholic, Lutheran, Protestant, etc...

Have you seen how many version's of the Bible there are?

Like I said, how many "versions" of a dictionary are there?? They're all, laid out in different ways, different addendum's, different footnotes and reverences, but it's still a dictionary. Same with the Bible. Some take out the Thee's and Thou's, some go into deeper explanations, etc, but it's still The Bible

I ask an elder once what he thought of the Bible and he answered that spirutual people need spiritual food and this is there banquet of food. There has never been anything bad come from this book.

words in America are different than in England.

urbandictionary.com is another dictionary....

not all dictionaries are the same, same with The Bible. And it's more than thee's and thou's, sometimes.

what were you saying? They all have different focuses based on how things were translated from original language... how THEY interpretted the language. Or to emphasize the teachings of their religion.

I thought this was common knowledge.

This particular scenario is the reason for my assertion that AM-erica sucks.

Interpreting or translating the Bible still gives us The Bible, and it's still 66 Books, in the same order. Adding someone else's interpretation to the liner notes does not change The Bible.

AJ, yes, there are different translations and I chose mine based on how I read but the Bible is still the Bible--they all contain the same stories of the Creation , of Jesus, of the return of Jesus, etc. I can very much have a conversation about it with someone who goes to a Seventh Day Adventist church, a Lutheran one or someone who lives in the UK or Africa and we would all be able to understand each other.

Sorry to say, urbandictioanry.com is not an accepted "dictionary" by any standards. It's a collection of slang and colloquial sayings. I don't know of anyone who would use it while writing a proper paper.

Just because the "stories" your own words are relatively the same doesn't mean they are taught the same or believed the same way.

I grew up Catholic. The "stories" in the Bible are taught the same way.
When I was in the Army, I went to Protestant services. The "stories" in the Bible were taught the same way....

Now, I go to a non-denominational church. The "Stories" in the Bible are taught the same way

One of the fundamental deceptions being promoted by modern Bible publishers is that the new Bibles are merely in different styles of writing; that they are simply easier to read than the KJV; that nothing is being removed or changed in God's word.

There are many problems with these claims. Here we will focus on the claim that "all versions really say the same thing."

Why is this important? It is simple: if two books say different things, or if two books say inherently contradictory things, or if of two books one says more than the other, they cannot both be God's word. This is simple, basic logic. To say otherwise is to accuse the Holy Spirit of doublespeak.

There are many, many reasons for the differences we are about to examine. One of the primary reasons for these differences is that the underlying original-language text of the Bible that was used for 1800 years has been replaced by modern scholarship with a text that was assembled in the nineteenth century. There are several articles on this website describing this fact and these competing texts (their sources, history, and content), and you are encouraged to read them.

But the purpose of these comparisons is mainly to show you that anyone telling you there is no substantive difference between the KJV and modern Bibles is either ignorant or intentionally deceiving you. You simply cannot see the differences and honestly say they do not exist!

ignorant or intentionally deceiving?
