Wow. How disappointing to see this thread deteriorate so badly and right into name calling. Hard to believe we're all adults here.

froggy, you are right about that. I can only take being treated poorly for so long before I call someone on it. Treat me with respect, you get respect back. Be a DB, you get called a DB.... (not you... you've always been nice and respectful).

Seal what i am saying is there is no everlasting when it come to hell you are dead the mind and body are not aware of any thing dead. I dont know what the witness have ever done to you other than come to your door. You sure have some thing for them. Or is it cause theres one on here posting. I know and have been warned by the elders about doing what I do. there are more important things that i should be doing and i know this. To me I could care less that you beleive in what you beleive in and feel the way you feel. But God does care for every one he does not want any one to be distroyed.

Like I said, how many "versions" of a dictionary are there?? They're all, laid out in different ways, different addendum's, different footnotes and reverences, but it's still a dictionary. Same with the Bible. Some take out the Thee's and Thou's, some go into deeper explanations, etc, but it's still The Bible

Really? Do you have the books of Timothy in your bible, Hip?

Yes, do you??

Ass for Average Joe, I see you as a typically pompous Massachusetts type person. You think you're always right and everyone should care about how right you are. You seem to like to argue.Christian or not, doesn't mean I have to like you, which I don't.

I really have no clue why you're even on this message board, not that I'm trying to run you off of it. Your choice to do what ever you want.

But I have to wonder, what is your faith?? You've probably posted it, but I rarely actually read much of what you have to say, unless you're saying it to me, which I wish you would not do

I feel like I should comment here. This might be my first and only post in the religious forum. I usually stay out of here, as I have my own personal views of religion, and don't want to appear to be disrespectful to anyone.

I read the last few pages of this thread and have some thoughts. I've never read the bible, and I doubt I ever will. I know the basic story of Jesus, but no specifics. I tend to lump the bible, the torah, the Qur'an, etc into the same group. They're blueprints for a religion.

In my impression of them, they tell people what to believe, which I've never been a fan of.

As far as this...whatever it is...between Joe and HK, it seems kind of pointless. I've met both of you guys, had beers with both of you guys (a lot of beers with HK) and you're both great people.

You don't appear to have much in common, but I hope you two can be respectful of each other. I don't have much in common with either of you when it comes to stances on things, but I feel we've always been respectful.

Joe has just as much right to be on this board as anyone else...just because it's mainly about Peoria doesn't mean other opinions and outlooks on things aren't welcome.

Anyways, HK, I'm sure she wasn't attacking your religion, if that's how you felt. I know the whole religion thing is fairly new for you, and I'm thrilled that it's helped you. I know you were in a dark place for a while, and sometimes you never know what can bring you out of it.

And Joe, HK is a good guy, despite how he sometimes appears on the board. It's very easy to become snarky and rude,on a message board, it's happened to me several times. Try to take everything with a grain of salt that people on here say.

And, if anyone is interested on some of my views on religion, feel free to check out this post on my blog here:

agreed, Luke. I have never put down anyone for their beliefs and I never will. Please keep that in mind, HK. You believe in something that I don't... I'm fine with that. I really dislike how you come at me for my opinions. You seem to bring up the fact I'm not from Peoria when I say something you don't like. I hope by your "+1", you will stop doing that. That's just not called for, IMO. I have no problems with putting it all behind me and being respectful. But, believe me... when dished at me, I dish it back. and I pull no punches. I'm not someone that will just let someone walk all over me. Not you. Not my husband. Not my boss. Nobody.

So, let's start this again:

There are many variations of The Book. You are of the opinion that it's pretty much the same thing, just taught differently. I disagree with that. The Bible was written so long ago and the language was even different. That alone creates discrepancies in variations. Did you know that Eskimos have like 20 different words for "snow"?? Well, language translation can be a tricky thing...

and then the various organized religions have their translations that provide their own twist on things. They believe their translation is the "correct" interpretation.

BTW, I don't really think of this particular post as being "religious" (I know Kev doesn't like that term), but it's really about history. It's man that's writing the books.

There are several people on this forum who are not from Peoria. So I'm not sure why Hip keeps bringing that up.

well, there was a +1 from him in response to Luke, so I hope that's the end of it.
