what I am hearing from the Right is that he intends to say one thing to the people, but then do whatever the heck he wants after the elections, and that includes getting into the metaphorical bed of foreign leaders. But, doesn't want to do certain things NOW because they will jeopardize his campaign.

Kind of like saying one thing to win the primary election- then using an etch a sketch - to erase that platform - start over and use a different platform to win the general election. It seems to work for both parties doesn't it.

There is not a single shred of moral equivalency between those two scenarios. In the etch a sketch case, it was not Romney but rather a staffer, and he was talking to the American People via a journalist. In the Russian case, he was talking to a foreign leader that has often been hostile to U.S. interests, and he was clearly suggesting that he had other things to do or say that he was not interested in sharing with the American people. I know you guys know that, so to suggest there is an equivalency between these two issues is disingenuous at best.

to think that PBO is the first, or that it's only from the Left, is a bit naive, IMO.

The "staffer" who used the term "etch a sketch" was the Communications Director. And if you don't think that Romney's campaign takes a serious tact to the middle after the primary is over - you are delusional.

I think the President's comments were pragmatic and realistic... something that you don't find very often in politics these days.

Lots of trumped up rhetoric comes out of ANY country during an election cycle, including Israel, Iran, United States and Russia.

Its no secret that Obama is running for re-election and its also no secret that second term presidents have a different perspective than first term presidents.

If he would have a different perspective as a second term president, and he's as refreshing and forthcoming as you want to give him credit for, then he should share that vision with the American people instead of the old wink-wink-nod-nod to our enemies.

And if you discount my opinion once more by calling me a name I will be done with this conversation.

Ever think he's not ready to share anything with the public yet?? He hasn't even met the Russians to discuss any of this, hence the comment he made putting it off til after the election.

What part of this are you missing?

Dealing with foreign heads of state like President Obama did with the Ruskies is "diplomacy". From what I've read on the topic, "diplomacy" is an act of compromise in which both parties are willing to provide some flexibility to the other side in order to find an amenable outcome for both. Most of these diplomatic situations take place behind closed doors because sometimes final arrangements have not yet been determined. (I had to look up "diplomacy" because it's been quite some time since I've seen anything like that coming out of Washington.)

I'm also unsure of where joepyeweed called you a name, JnJ, but I may have simply missed that.

Right, if there's gonna be anyone discounting J's opinions around here, using obvious observations like "Delusional" aren't allowed

At this point in time our enemies are al-qaida and the taliban.

Who are our enemies, in your judgement?
