Things that drive me crazy at grocery store
By: stairat49

I have a coupon for $9.00 off if I buy $90.00 worth of groceries, and when I check out I only have $85.00 worth. They won't let me check out and get $5.00 more in food. I have to use it in this transaction, or hold up the line and run and buy something. I have seen people buy 6-7 candy bars just to use the coupon.

Also, when the employees park in all the good spots and are in the store for 8 hours so customers can walk in all kinds of bad weather. I used to work in a grocery store, and I would park far enough away from door so customers could get in and out.

Link day!

Ugh!

Here's one.
Kroger never has Perdue chicken, except wings and drums and we only eat white meat.
Tyson chicken is nasty.
And Kroger brand chicken is actually Tyson chicken and is the worst excuse for Tyson.
In national taste tests, Kroger "brand" ranked dead last.
Tyson is the company that was fined for it's abuse of chickens.
Perdue is all natural.

People that block the aisle carrying on a conversation as if they haven't seen each other since the backwards dance in 5th grade. Arrrrgggggh.

Hip, not trying to start a fight, but your comment about not abusing chickens struck me as humorous, since they are all being raised to be slaughtered and eaten. Not saying I want to see them tortured while they ARE alive though, so I see your point.

I hate it when people are getting ready to pay and they get a call on their cell phone and instead of ignoring it they answer it and take 3 min. standing there talking while the rest of us are waiting for them to pay up.

Actually AV8R.......If I were a chicken raised for food, I'd rather be abused than pampered....it would make the inevitable easier, lol.

So how close do you have to get to $60 before it is close enough to get the $6.00 off? $59? $57.50? $29.95? If the store wanted to make the coupon $6.00 off on $52.83 they would have made it that way. And another catch is this: it is usually $60 BEFORE tax, not including. In addition, some companies won't let the coupon scan to take off the coupon amount unless the minimum sale is reached.

Unless you carry a calculater around while you shop, you think you have the $60. worth, and you might be real close. I think because you have to use your Kroger card anyway, they should let you buy the additional few dollars off that same day.I would do that to get the money. I just don't want to buy 5 candy bars I don't want or need to get refund.

I always have my money out and ready to pay.....before I check out (I guess estimate how much). This helps passing through so much easier for those behind me! I also have any cards or coupons ready ahead of time!

a) People who have gobs of coupons and are totally disorganized about it. Coupons annoy the f*** out of me in general. They are never for products I want or in quantities/sizing I need. Do I really need 20 of something to save 20 cents? When I see a coupon cutter, I change lanes, because that lane just became the SLOOOOOOOOOOW lane.

b) People who graze at the grocery store. I am not talking about people snacking at the sample tables. No, I am talking about the people who open stuff up and snack throughout the store. They don't pay for the stuff. I have never seen the stores move to stop it either. It isn't like they are being sneaky about it.

c) People who write checks. Seriously, learn how to use a debit card or learn how to write... faster! When are stores just going to say... mm we don't do paper anymore?

Because I am on a budget for groceries I always write down the price of each item on my grocery list beside the item that I am checking off. If I get something that is not on my list I write that down too. And then I add it all in my head. Or I have a calculator on my cell phone.

But anyway the thing that drives me crazy is when something is on sale but they are out of it on the shelf and you have to track someone down to go get another item from the back.

The other thing that drives me crazy- and this happened at Walmart the other day- cashiers who do not know how to use gift cards. I was told that my card did not work and I would have to use another form of payment. She did not even get anyone to help her figure it out. I would have protested- I usually do- but I was in the fast lane and there were several people behind me. Luckily I had the money to pay. I stopped at customer service afterwards and they scanned the card and yes indeed it was loaded. They told me that the cashier I had was new. I told them that she needed more training.

This really pi**ed me off at Kroger! I was in line behind someone buying items with the Wick coupons. That's all they were buying. The cashier was very rude and acted like they had leprosy or something.

Most of the cashiers at the Kroger on Lake are very friendly even when they are swamped but this one was a total snot. If I see her working in a lane now, I avoid it.
