Wow. I didn't realize bus drivers were a problem these days. Every bus driver that I have known has been great, caring responsible people. My next door neighbor used to be a bus driver.

When I get the notion to worry ... I meditate on the serenity prayer.

Serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things that I can,

IMO, a certain amount of worry is perfectly normal, however excessive worry stems from a lack of faith that you and yours are in the hands of a higher power. (I'm sure that's way too much religion for some people here... feel free to poke fun.)

My kids have the best bus driver. He's loves his job, knows the kids by name, and is like a grandpa. He went on vacation and the kids had a new driver for two weeks. It was in the hopes of the new driver to replace the current one because he wants to cut back on his hours. That lasted exactly two weeks because of his treatment of the kids, missing of bus stops, etc. He called the babysitter of a student a not nice word that all the kids heard.

You always have the option of driving the kids yourself. You can ask to see their record if you are really concerned.

You get drug tested when you renew your DOT medical card every 2 years Not when you get or renew your license. But still Otto from the Simpsons drive my daughter on her field trip.

I wasn't born yesterday. I know dozens of people that could offer multiple strategies for passing pee-tests. They mean nothing.

My fear is a bus driver under the influence or distracted in some way. I wonder if it would be weird if I asked if and how they test the drivers?

What about police background checks on the bus drivers? I am not saying anything is amiss on that point, In some places some people got hired that should not have been hired to drive school buses.

Considering the near total ineptitude of all things District 150 I thought I would bring that point up.

According to the Sec of State, you have to renew your license every year and pass a physical including a drug test in order to renew.

And when you originally submit your application, you have to submit to an Illinois specific as well as an FBI background check.

People worry fuss and dwell on stuff entirely to much.

People didn't worry about this kind of stuff when we were kids, and if they didn't they didn't dwell on it and create issues where there aren't any.

Come on, its ok to have concern but to let it eat at you like this..Lighten up
