Lots of people blame the lady who was in charge of Al Gore's campaign in Tennessee for his loss. If he had won his home state of Tennessee, he wouldn't have needed Florida. I forget her name, but she is on TV frequently... one of the many talking heads on political shows.... The NRA spent ungodly amounts of money in TN back then. Of course money spent then is small potatoes to what is being spent in this election.

W was elected... however he was elected by the \"system\" and not the voters.

He would not have been elected if the State of Florida hadn\'t purged thousands of eligible voters from their voter registration list. Its a tactic that is still being used today. The \"system\" is manipulated by the parties, both democrat and republican. I think its easier to manipulate the system with modern computer systems than it was in the past. You couldn\'t just purge a voter roll when they were paper documents held in each county.

Did Ohio fix their early voting problems, yet? I haven\'t been following that closely.

@joepyeweed:

They made the early voting hours the same in all counties but cancelled early voting in the 3 days before the election.

from the brief coverage I heard, there would have been extended hours in heavily republican counties that democratic counties were unable to have, or something like that.

If that's true, then frankly I'm glad they leveled the playing field. Elections should be fair for both sides. And regardless of who wins, DOJ had better damn well prosecute anyone standing outside a polling area with a baton, threatening voters.

@joepyeweed:

The womans name is Donna Brazille. She is now a political contributor on CNN.She also teaches at Georgetown University. There were a lot of people, myself included, who thought she was in way over her head, from day one, managing the Gore campaign.

However, she is a fabulous professor. In that sense she is almost without equal. Due to space limitations etc, over the yearss, there have been a lot of students that had to be turned away from taking her classes.

And if Bill Clinton has not enacted the assault weapon ban, Al Gore would have won his home state and the Oval Office.

It's all relative to something. Like the theory about a butterfly flapping its wings in China and a hurricane here in America 3 months later....all bull****.

@AV8R:

In the early days of the Gore campaign there was too much talk and too much time lost in talking about the idea of carrying states that they were never going to carry. Florida was hardly ever mention in those discussions.

The bottm line is that the campaign manager was from Louisiana. Some people thoughtr that with her managing the campaign that Gore stood a chance of carrying Mississippi. Alabama, Louisiana and Georgia. Thats where the ship really started taking on water.

There was no way Gore was going to win those states.
