If Lincoln was a "moderate" would we still have slavery today to some degree? That is my profound thought of the day.

We do have slavery. Expanding lower classes either enslaved by a weekly pay check that they can barely survive on or slaves to social prgrams

In a strict inperpretation of slavery as it was known during Lincolns administration, the answer is a resounding NO. Too much change in society including the passage of the Civil Rights Act.

However, from an economic standpoint, in todays society slavery exists in a different form. The ever increasing economic gap between the "haves" and the "have nots" has created a new form of slavery.

You do realize that Lincoln was a Liberal. The republican party during Lincoln's era was liberal and the democrats were the conservatives at that time.

Honestly, I could care less about what some dead politicians did or said. The Constitution and other 'papers' of the Law have led us to the collectivist State under which our existence is designed outside of what Nature intended for the species.

Whover penned "Honest Abe" had to be delusional, and is dead.

I have to say that is very lame. Slavery is a abomination in our world. And to not care about "history" (history is what dead politicians did or said), would only doom us to repeat it.

you should have realized it would be lame merely by looking at the identity of the person who posted it. I see 120202 in the "last reply" column, and I go no further. There is no point in it.
