A good friend of mine has a bachelors degree in photography, so I've had this conversation in lengths with him.

@Pock:

Please tell me your argument isn't based on a friend with a Bachelor's degree.

@stayathomemommy:
Not at all. He thinks I am completely wrong as well.

- Everyone wants something for nothing.

@mizzouman_2000:

that would seem to be the issue with diez. She thinks 50 cents for a CD WITH PRINTING RIGHTS (read: release of copyright) is fair compensation for someone who spends a few hours of their time taking pictures with a camera that likely cost between 2,500 - 5,000 dollars, a few grand more for some lenses, another grand for decent lights...

Yep, 50 cents should cover it, right?

@AV8R:

that is not what i said by far . i simply asked if is this is a rip off or do all charge this amount ? so please get it right . ive never seen 1 that asks that amount for a xtra CD befor .

@diezelmom303:

you said you wanted to pay 50 cents for it, did I get that right?

my question was and is still is 50$ too much to pay for a xtra cd from a faux =fake photographer ? do all even the pros who are lic and bonded and insured with their city charge the same for it ?

i never said i wanted anything for free and it should be 50 cents . some one else asked if ment they chrged 50 cents . and it clearly is on her fb page listed at 50$ dollars .

this wasnt ment to be a huge argument or belil me .

@diezelmom303:

And my answer wasn't meant to belittle you. My answer was stating you get what you pay for and I would do my research before forking out any money to any photographer. If $50 seems pricey, then research other options within your price range or wait until you have the money.

sets up the lighting, angle, aperture, shutter speed, focus etc you can shoot the same shot.

@AV8R:
My 3year old could probably do that.

@Pock:

Your ignorance of this subject is painfully obvious. You ought to quit before you make more of an ass of yourself, although I know you won't.

@PeoriaIllinoisan:

it almost makes me want to buy a camera... Almost.

You could go out and buy a camera. Whatcha gonna create with it?

Just like going out and buying a guitar. You either make noise with it like anyone can... or you make music..

She can charge whatever she wants for her CD. It's all up to her and how she runs her business. If you're happy with her portfolio then you're going to pay her prices. If you're just nitpicking about her prices without having seen her portfolio then you shouldn't bad mouth her.

It's sad to me that you think you should only pay 50 cents for a CD of copyrighted photos. You obviously have no idea what it takes to process photos from a shoot. It takes me about 4 hours per one hour of shooting time to go through each pic and tweak it, sometimes longer. Now imagine how many more hours it takes wedding photographers to go through 4-6 hours of shooting? You're talking about hundreds of pictures here if not thousands. Each one gets looked at. This is time spent away from family and from other shoots. It takes an investment in good editing software, too. Now add up those 4-6 of photo taking plus 20+ hours of processing time plus the time it took beforehand to meet and greet the bride and groom and get an idea of what they wanted. Throw in the engagement shoot, too, plus the processing time for that, don't forget...

It always kills me when someone says photographers are over priced. You have no idea how many hours and money I've invested in training, schooling and equipment to get to where im currently at--and ive still got a ways to go. If you had the same amount of time and money into your business as I do, you wouldn't be charging minimum wage either.

I bet @Chef Kevin, wouldn't cook a meal for my family for 50 cents--not with all his years of experience and training. But I Hera @Pock is fairly cheap. @Pock, why don't you come over and fix my computer for free--or do whatever it is you do for free? Or better yet, set it all up so that I can do it myself but you can stand there next to me and guide me for free while I use your equipment. Yeah, that's it. Lol!

And yes, there's a huge difference between creating photos and taking snapshots, @Pock.

I doubt that she is charging $50 for an EXTRA CD. I'm sure that is for A CD.
