I watched it all weekend long. Hub's had a minor surgical procedure on Friday, so he needed to take it easy all weekend. So we watched a lot of the Olympics together. We surfed back and forth between what is on NBC, Bravo and MSNBC. Some swimming, some gymnastics, some bicycling, some basketball, yadda, yadda, yadda...

Phelps needs to stay away from the bong and practice more.

my favorite event has been watching the brits sprint to try and fill all the empty seats. Seems maybe they weren't quite prepared for this.

Where have I heard that before? Hmmmmmm....

They need an optional warning system so I know who is going to fall in gymnastics...it stresses me out watching it wondering who is going fall.

I watched opening ceremonies Fri night. Over the wknd I watched a bit of womens basketball and swimming and gymnastics. I really like the diving....missed that yesterday. I'm sure there's a schedule somewhere?

Yea...I noticed Sat while watching women's b-ball that there were a lot of empty seats.......Then I heard today due to sponsors and corporations not using their tickets....

@leslie110:

and to think, had he actually taken practice as seriously as the others on his team then they probably would have won.

@tapeworm:

Phelps swam the fastest leg of that race...but yeah...it was his fault.

@leslie110:

I'm not sure if that's sarcasm, but yes, it was his fault. There is no question that Phelps is the best on his team, but imagine how much better he could be if only he applied himself. He has an amazing talent but has let it go to his head and lost focus. I don't care how good he is when by his own admission he hasn't given 100%, and that's an insult to his teammates and speaks very negatively about his attitude and character. He doesn't deserve it.

@tapeworm:

I guess I just don't understand how the person with the fastest time on the team, and second fastest in the entire race, gets blamed for the loss? Why not blame Lochte who didn't win his leg even though he started with a huge lead?

@leslie110:

It's not that hard to understand. He half-assed his way through training, barely qualified for finals, and therefore I'm not cheering for him this time around. I hope he loses and it eats him alive and he learns a valuable lesson and comes back in 4 years well prepared and then, he'll have realized his true potential and could break every record in the book.

Or, maybe he's just that good, and even as an underachiever he still puts others painstaking efforts to shame, and that would be very sad. We're supposed to look up to these people.

@AV8R:

Have you noticed that The Drudge Report is really rubbing this in? Every time the Brits screw up Drudge runs it as a headline and really piles it on.
