blather

1524, Scottish, probably from a Scand. source, such as O.N. blağr "to chatter, babble," probably of imitative origin. Blatherskite "talker of blatant nonsense" (1650) was popularized in U.S. during the Revolution by the Scottish song "Maggie Lauder."

Funny Roosevelt was criticized for all of his social programs too, funny thing was it helped end the depression. Sure it wasn't without fault. But many great social programs came out of the Roosevelt administration. Would you criticize the McCain Administration if he decided to start social programs that would keep the money in America? Look how prices went up with Bush at the helm. He threw money in the Middle East with no thought to what the consequrenses would be. We will never see that money again. The money that is being thrown at social programs will at least stay in America, and there is a potential for getting a return on the investment. If you go to a casino and there is a machine with a sign that says out of order will you decide to sit and throw money into that machine even though you will lose ever dime you put into it or will you play the machine that says every third pull wins money? Obama is taking a risk but at least there is a chance for a return on the money, Bush( and every representative who voted for war) threw our money into the broken machine and then acted perplexed when they lost money.

The problem with North Korea has been ongoing, it is not new, it became heightened when Bush ,with his itchy trigger finger ,tried being a bully to a country that doesn't give a crap because they too are bullies with nothing to lose.

It was under the last administration that the goverment started acting like Mcarthy era police state, by tapping phones without just cause, holding detainees indefinetley without legal consult or without even knowing why they were being held in jail. No Miranda rights, just because someone might have thought you were a spy, or even worse an enemy combatant. The goverment didn't have to have proof of your guilt just someone had to report you as being a terrorist and bam you could be held. I like having privacy I like not needing to worry that big brother is listening. because I have rights to free speech. you can't have it both ways eithe you enjoy free speech or you have incresed intelligence capabilities

inflation happens so even though prices are higher, the average earnings are also higher. this sight shows gas prices in perspective http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=6440

The French president is trying to ban Burquas, Do you want to ban Religious attire from Americans, no Yamikas, no Burquas, no crosses, no habits, collars ect ect. That is what The french president is in effect doing, he is trying to ban a religious symbol. It is easy to put down another religious belief but remember if you want to support a stripping of religious freedom for one group the next group stripped of religious freedom might impact your beliefs.

AV8R writes:
It's not only the cash, which I believe will usher in double digit inflation eventually, it's all the social programs run amok. He is going to have to raise taxes, not only on the wealthy but on everyone. He'll hide them in some money shell game, but they'll be taxes nonetheless. His Value Added Tax (VAT) will be added to the price of merchandise on the price label, so consumers won't see it at the register like they do a sales tax. Cap and Trade, we've already covered that...tax the industry, not the consumer. Guess who winds up paying that?

Besides the money, he's cut missile defense (while N. Korea prepares to test fire a missile at Hawaii), cut the intelligence capability of the U.S. (Carter did that, took decades to recover), and is socializing industry (even while socialist countries are seeing it fail).

My God, even the FRENCH President is tougher on Islam! WTF???

I said it earlier in this thread and I'll say it again.

He'll go down in history as our country's worst president.

Abraham Lincoln wouldn't be viewed nearly as favorably if people actually knew the truth about him and did some research. But I will leave that to another thread.

Jimmy Carter was a joke, the only thing that over shadowed his idiocy was his brother Billy.

I would be very interested to see who was Polled for the ABC poll. I am betting mostly people with no real knowledge of History at all.

I also have a hard time believe 55% of the people polled felt Clinton was a good president, or are they thinking about what they might think of Hillary?
