NPR CEO resigns on the Peoria.com Forums

Vivian Schiller, the chief executive of NPR, resigned Wednesday in the aftermath of controversial comments from a fundraising executive and as congressional Republicans push to end federal funding for public radio.

“The Board accepted her resignation with understanding, genuine regret, and great respect for her leadership of NPR these past two years,” board chairman Dave Edwards said in a statement. “I recognize the magnitude of this news and that it comes on top of what has been a traumatic period for NPR and the larger public radio community.”

I'm glad she resigned. There's no doubt that what she was referring to when she said that NPR didn't need public funding would be an influx of ultra-liberal dollars. This isn't any better than Fox News, IMO.

I don't understand the hidden video camera thing either. First, I thought it was illegal and second, it's terribly unfair.

Just to be clear, Vivian Schiller, the chief executive who resigned, is not the same person who was on the tape (who also resigned). And the controversial comments he made, pretty much mirror things that I would say... of course I don't work for NPR either, so I have more liberty at what I can say.

I thought I was screwed up somewhere, I swore it was a man talking in the clips I saw. And yes, he's pretty much spot-on with

Now I know this isn't every single teapartier, but it certainly describes a very large cross-section of them.

Certainly, not all tea party people are like that, and of course, its the wackos in every group that tend to get the most publicity.

We were talking about the tea party at dinner last night and we concluded that they are the old "moral majority", but they are pissed off now, because they realized the republican party that they have supported over and over again has never pushed through their agenda.

For you to say that "a very large cross section" of tea partiers is racist is akin to me saying a very large cross section of Muslims are terrorists.

Do you have facts to back this up? What percentage of tea partiers are racist?

She is. The guy who said the comments had the same last name, but have no relation.

Vivian also said that Juan Williams needed to keep his comments to his psychiatrist or publicist, that's it.
