Need a rental, any rental agency services? on the Peoria.com Forums

Hi! We are going to be moving to Peoria and know zero about rentals in the area. We've had some advice from future co-workers but nothing specific. We are currently e suburbs of Chicago and are employed full time which leaves very limited time for apartment searching. Many of the "luxury apartment" complexes on the north end of Peoria or near either mall are on long wait lists. We would also be ok with a small town home or duplex. Someone mentioned looking in Pekin. We would love an agent to help us but not sure the service exists in Peoria. Any advice is appreciated.

When is the big move?

I've heard many of the newer apartment complexes in Peoria are hard to get into.

Expand your search to include homes, renting a house in the Peoria area will not be as expensive as you think.

Also include Morton, Washington, and East Peoria in your search.

Don't live near meanjarhead, he is in a bad neighborhood. ;-)

Cape Cod Village in Morton look like nice apartments from the outside and they are close to the interstate.. but I have no idea if they have vacancies.

Many of the real estate agencies offer relocation services and properties for rent that they manage. Off the top of my head, I can think of two:

There are probably more, but this will give you a start.

With school starting in August, unsold homes will become rentals. Traders Realty also has a rental division. While Dunlap is very popular, because of its good schools, don't overlook Germantown, Metamora or Eureka.

It is within the next two to three weeks. We have temporary housing available up to 6 weeks but it is less than ideal.

Thanks, everyone. The expense of renting a house is not a concern, just more room than we need or want to maintain or furnish. Also without knowing a neighborhood, I'm not sure we'd feel secure in a house where as an apartment community offers "safety in numbers."

I will contact the realtors you've suggested.

In your situation, I'd look at the Timberlane Apartments as a temporary location until you can get thru a waiting list on one of the north end places. They're safe, they're convenient and I'm pretty sure you can go month-to-month or short term lease.

Do not rent in Pekin...seriously.

I am talking to a hopeful cleint in Chili and Washington to pick up his properties the Washington's won't be open the ones in chili will be but i got work to do on them.
