MAC training

I have a shot at a pretty good job in graphic design, but one of the requirements is Mac proficiency.
Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. The software is the same whether it's mac or PC, isn't it? Anyhow, I know some of you have Macs, and I'd be grateful to anyone that would give me a few lessons, so I can at least feel my way around.... |

I've always worked on a mac..what kind of training do you need. I worked as a designer prior to staying at home.

Hip, most of the shortcuts are the same. Instead of control, you use the command key.

I figured. I personally don't see the problem. I'm not programming a mac. I'm using software that I'm proficient with already, but they want me to get familiar with a Mac aqnd the resubmit my resume.

Does ICC have any macs available and in a common area for student access? Perhaps you could go there. Seriously though a osx for dummies book and a little reading will take you a long way as the mac is the simplest computer to use ever, almost too easy and that is what confuses windows users most, do not over think it, when in doubt just double click the file, drag stuff where you need it.

or look online for the shortcuts.
macs are the easiest computers to use. everything is WYSIWYG. commands for Quark and PS are all the same as well but like SM said, you substitute the command key for the control key and press the option key and the mouse button as a way to "right click." good luck! |

I don't think "Mac proficiency" and "playing around with one at Best Buy" are the same thing
Just my 2 cents though :< |

No, but when you're an advanced user, who's first computer was a Commadore64, that you go in 1980, it doesn't seem like it would take much more than some "playing around" to become "proficient"
What I really need is to figure out how the file structure works. Saving and finding files, creating folders, etc... What does Mac use in lieu of Windows Explorer? |
