Answer me why you'd vote for a guy who doesn't support the GI BIl, does support torture, wants to keep the tax cuts permanent, in a time of war where we spend 4 billion a week on a war he plans to extend, but can't spend as nmuch on a new GI Bill which will only help the soldiers we're supposed to be supporting.
The John McCain of the last decade has become a puppet that panders to the lunatic fringe of the right wing. BTW, THIS republican president went to war to get oil, and in 5 years hasn't even been able to do THAT right, yet his protoge actually has a chance to be the NEXT president??? |

10 things you should know about John McCain (but probably don't):
1) John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has "evolved," yet he's continued to oppose key civil rights laws. 2) According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain "will make Cheney look like Gandhi." 3) His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban. 4) McCain opposes a woman's right to choose. He said, "I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned." 5) The Children's Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children's health care bill last year, then defended Bush's veto of the bill. 6) He's one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a "second job" and skip their vacations. 7) Many of McCain's fellow Republican senators say he's too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: "The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He's erratic. He's hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me." 8) McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates. 9) McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his "spiritual guide," Rod Parsley, believes America's founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a "false religion." McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church "the Antichrist" and a "false cult." 10) He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0—yes, zero—from the League of Conservation Voters last year. http://www.socialmedia.biz/2008/04/10-things-you-s.h |

One reason that people might vote for McCain is that they prefer a (clonned) W. Bush third term, over CHANGE.
The words African-American, Change and Leader, used in a single sentence is frightening to some. Poor Thangs. -The One Stop HOME Shop |

Calling John McCain the Lunatic Fringe clearly indicates that you are in fact, the Lunatic Fringe.

Let's not forget his cheating on his disabled first wife (who waited for him while he was in 'nam). She waited for him, but he couldn't wait for her.
He has more screws loose than the Bradley fieldhouse. |

Among MANY reliable sources:
http://www.azcentral.com/news/specials/mccain/articl "McCain needed a divorce from Carol, his wife of 14 years from whom he was separated. After McCain's dramatic homecoming from Vietnam, the couple grew apart. Their marriage began disintegrating while McCain was stationed in Jacksonville. McCain has admitted to having extramarital affairs." http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2006/0607. "McCain was still married and living with his wife in 1979 while, according to The New York Times' Nicholas Kristof, "aggressively courting a 25-year-old woman who was as beautiful as she was rich." McCain divorced his wife, who had raised their three children while he was imprisoned in Vietnam, then launched his political career with his new wife's family money. In 2000, McCain managed to deflect media questioning about his first marriage with a deft admission of responsibility for its failure. It's possible that the age of the offense and McCain's charmed relationship with the press will pull him through again, but Giuliani and Gingrich may face a more difficult challenge. Both conducted well-documented affairs in the last decade--while still in public office." He has also been accused, recently, of cheating on his current wife, with a lobbyist who is her clone, only a decade younger. |

Excuse me, but he ADMITS the affairs he had in his first marriage and his latest follies are still being investigated. Of course, his affairs took place after he returned home as a POW. Did you think someone was implying he cheated on his first wife while in a POW camp? Does returning as a POW give one the ok to cheat on their spouse? How do you know he didn't cheat on his wives? Do you follow him around 24/7? You really should do a few google searches on him and his past. He isn't the most liked fellow in the room. Just because somebody "served his country" doesn't mean he's a nice guy or should be President. None of this is "heresay". Do some research. |

You're the one who brought all this up, not me. This is not speculation, he ADMITTED TO CHEATING ON HIS FIRST WIFE. What part of that is gossip and speculation? You said; "Feel free to have the last word. I lost interest in tabloid gossip years ago." This is not tabloid gossip, it's the truth. I'm just surprised that this is news to some people. It's been out in the open for a very long time. Yes, he is running for President, which is why ALL of him needs to be out in the open, not just the peachy swell patriotic stuff that makes for good sound bites. I do suggest you do your own research on him. Not just his "family" life, but his business and senate careers as well. |
