Kindness

What was the last kind thing you did for someone else?

I gave a woman in the Kroger's parking lot money, $5.00, after hearing her sob story. I am pretty sure it was all BS but I would rather give her money and it be for something else than her need it for food and not get it.

Les, I saw you there. After you left she went in to the store and bought a pack of cigs.

You would need to go into the store and buy the food to know what the money is going for. Offer to buy a meal or gas for the person's car and go buy it just don't give them the money.

Shame on you.....Leslie did a good deed and you're mocking. If I didn't know better, I'd call you a cynical republican.

She is a cynical republican. Personally, I don’t “gift and tell” for fear of coming off as a glory seeker. But hypothetically, IF I was the kind of person to give to persons begging in a parking lot it would be food, not cash. Mainly because I’ve seen them go in and purchase booze or drugs and I’m not enabling anyone’s bad habits. I think I’d also direct them to the nearest food bank for future meals.

I didn't think that asking everyone what the last nice thing they did for someone would get this response...it is sort of sad.

I know...I was being sarcastic. It was my attempt at humor, which obviously failed.

I think Leslie was just trying to start a conversation....it didn't strike me as glory seeking.

Drugs? At Kroger? Like crack?

Leslie, I've gotta problem with panhandling. I think it puts customers at risk and store employees should nip it in the bud.

That said, there is no doubt you did it with kindness in your heart. For your own safety, girl, don't do it again.

Here is some more glory seeking on my part...I also buy the really cheap school supplies and donate them to the elementary school near my house. Abby isn't in school yet so she doesn't need them and if I spend $10.00 and give a huge bag of stuff to a school, that is a good thing.

What's the matter Crod, haven't you ever been down the narcotics aisle in Kroger? Nice selection, I personally try to stay away from the generic brands. You don't want to buy the yellow package with black letters that just says "Smack" you want to buy a good name brand.

Because I'm a complete and TOTAL "glory seeker" I nearly always hold doors open for elderly people and ladies, and try at least once a day to do something nice for someone. I usually stand when a lady arrives or leaves the table, or enters a room. But, that's only because my parents raised me to be polite, I mean, a glory seeker.

My Grandmother would always tell me the 3 most important words are " please" "thank you " and " I love you "

I don't find glory seeking nearly as bad as always trying to be a 'one-upper..'
