jubilee cafe question

Was talking with a friend today and we came to a disagreement

I know there is a Jubilee Cafe out near Kickapoo/Edwards and its been there for years.

However. Wasn't there a second one (if only briefly) in the building that used to be Oogies, and before that, the Dixie Cafe?

I thought sure I remember this being a Jubilee after Oogies closed, then they tore it all down to build Krispy Kreme and the BP station.

I know I'm probably wrong because this friend of mine grew up here and I've only been here since 91, but still I'd like to know for sure....

There was a second Jubilee Cafe somewhere, I believe, on Glen. I dont know how long it was there but it is gone now. I also dont know what happened to the bldg after Jubliee Cafe closed.

I think Jubilee was there a few years. By now it is just another asterik in the long list of Peoria restaurants that come and go with great speed.

Jeep, you are correct on Jubilee Cafe's Peoria location. It was doing good business. I guess the land value was just to tempting. Like we need another gas station, a failed donut shop (now cheap glasses place with horrible advertisements). It was a good place to eat, especially for breakfast.

Awesome -- I knew I wasn't crazy. Now I'm scouring the intertubes to find a picture of the place. Can't wait to share all this "proof" with her.

Thanks everyone. It's fun to finally be right for once!

Jubilee always had good meatloaf and Fried Chicken, with a Wednesday special on the chicken, I think. The original Jubilee isn't that far out on I-74 from Peoria either.

I grew up in this area. It was Dixie Cafe, then Oogies, then Jubilee. There was also a craft stor next to/attached to it. I'm also positive the gas station was always there...but just something else. Who remembers when Silo was there...? What did they sell...appliances? That strip mall needs an upgrade...except for the Famous Footwear the rest looks awful and is dumpy..as are the businesses. I'd heard Sonic wanted the Krispy Kreme now Stanton Optical spot but it was already taken...and before or after..they also eyed the Glen/Univ spot but Starbucks got it.

p.s what is w/ strip malls/res going in already crowded shopping areas...i.e. Qdoba, Panda Express, Chipoltle, Chik-Fil-A? Put something in that dang ShopKo (which the sign on Allen did/has said sale pending for a loongg while).

Craft Cove was next door. We used to go there to make friendship bracelets and pins. Wow. I feel old.
