Born and raised on the East side of the river. NIU for undergrad. Back home for 6 months.. then to Chicago for 5 years.. then moved back here after meeting my husband. Lived on east side of river for 10 years. Moved to west side of the river over 2 years ago. Love it here.

@tntrecycling:

I hear you. My final resting place will be Peoria as I already have a burial plot next to my parents at Springdale.

It always surprises me at how many people are native Peoria-area folks for a city this size. For some reason it seems like there should be more "transplants" like me. You are all so lucky to have your family nearby!!

I was born/raised in Michigan. When I went to college, my parents moved to Ohio but I stayed in Michigan. Then lived in Tennessee for a while, then back to Mich, then here with husband. Probably here until I retire than either back to Michigan or west to Arizona where my parents and brother ended up.

Born/raised in East Peoria. Spent 3 years out East. First job out of culinary school was just a summer job but paid sooo veeerrry well that I almost paid off most of my loans. Came back to live with parents over the holidays, did some freelance work and teaching when the IVY Club executive chef job became available. I had a couple of offers elsewhere, but a salaried job where 1/2 the year I would only be working 3-4 days a week and didn't have to haul all my stuff 1/2 way across the country was too good to pass up.

I was born in Springfield in 1970. We moved ALOT when I was growning up (everywhere from Northern Minnesota to Southern Arizona) but ended up back in the Springfield area in 1983. In 1993 I met and fell in love with a young man originally from Beardstown but who lived in Peoria. In 1994 I moved to Peoria to be with him. We were together for 7 years when we broke up and he moved to Springfield to go back to school and I stayed here.

For someone who moved as often as I did growing up (2 -3 times per year) it is amazing that I am still here this long.

@tapeworm:

I always suspected you were a believer. If you believe in Satan, you believe in God.
Welcome to the flock, worm.
