Washington (CNN) -- House Republicans launched an all-out assault Tuesday against President Barack Obama's signature health care reform law, holding a series of committee hearings and other events ahead of a planned vote Wednesday on repealing the measure.
At news conferences, in media interviews and before congressional panels, GOP opponents of the 2010 Affordable Care Act depicted it as an unwarranted government intrusion in their health decisions that would reduce patients to commodities treated on a cost basis. Democratic supporters complained that Republicans offer no real alternative to needed reforms in a health care structure that leaves millions of Americans uninsured and faces spiraling costs. Any House repeal effort is sure to die in the Democratic-led Senate, and the White House made clear Obama would veto such a measure. How are you affected by the health care ruling? Share your views in the iReport Debate However, the daylong attacks on the health care law were intended to ignite public opposition to the law and force Democrats to publicly defend it. Republicans made clear that the goal is to inspire voters to rally against the law. www.cnn.com/2012/07/10/politics/house-health-care/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 |

I'm assuming this 31st attempt (no, seriously) to repeal Obamacare is really helping drive home the "jobs, jobs, jobs" focus of this Congress.

they need to keep the anti Obamacare message on the front page. It propelled a takeover of the House in 2010, hopefully this year it can get the Senate and the White House.
That's what this is about, IMO. |

What is should be about is running the country NOW.
They should be doing what they can about jobs NOW. They shouldn't be waiting until the next election to do something. What if they don't take the White House and Senate, are they going to continue to block jobs and other important legislation (like budgets, debt ceilings, etc) for eternity hoping they get full control of the government? A better plan might be working with what is available and coming up with a compromise bill on something that can be passed NOW that will have a long term solutions for the country. Part of the biggest problem with our economy is the uncertainty in these short-term stop-gap pieces of legislation - they pass these short term bills hoping they will get their way after the next election.... that is certainly not wise governance. |

Mark the calendar, I agree with Joe. Term limits are what we need to save this country from our politicians. That is the single best thing that could happen. But it won't.

The whole 'repeal Obamacare' rhetoric reminds me of a couple of jokes I read somewhere:
2 GOP congressman were talking at lunch one day. They discussed how bad the Affordable Care act was for the country. 1st Congressman says "ok, so we're going to vote to repeal Obama's plan. Have you heard from Boehner or other leaders what we're voting to replace it with? I mean, you and I, we're covered with the greatest health plan until we die. But we need something for those who vote us in, donate to our campaign when election year comes around. . 2nd Congressman says, "No, I haven't. Have you?" 1st Congressman: "Hell no, I'm just a freshman, I got told to vote against anything that Obama or the Democrats sends to us..." 2nd joke 2 Democrat Senators were talking at lunch one day. They discussed how bad unemployment was, how to get the economy going again. 1st Congressman says "ok, we've got to find a way to help the President pass some jobs bills Have you heard from Reid or other leaders about our party's plan to put people back to work? I don't know about you, but I'm going to make being a US Senator my lifelong career, so I won't have to worry about finding a job. 2nd Congressman says, "No, I haven't. The only jobs bills that I've seen came from the GOP House, but they always include more tax cuts for the upper 1% wealthy. Have you? 1st Congressman: "Hell no, I'm just a freshman, I got told to vote against anything that The House or the Republicans sends to us..." |
