House panel places Holder in Contempt of Congress on the Peoria.com Forums

A House panel voted Wednesday to place Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for his failure to comply with a subpoena, defying an assertion of executive privilege from President Obama.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, led by Republican Chairman Darrell Issa (Calif.), approved a resolution along party lines to place Holder in contempt after battling him for months over access to internal agency documents about the gun-tracking operation Fast and Furious.

The vote came after Obama escalated the conflict by sending a letter to the committee claiming executive privilege over the documents that the panel had sought.

This. Is a perfect example of highly paid elected officials doing jack shit. It's a miracle the country has lasted as long as it has. Don't they have something better to do, like force professional baseball players to testify in steroid cases, or regulate boxing???

I honestly believe that this is something we need to get to the bottom of. If it takes doing something like this, than so be it. Obama and Holder have said all along they didn't know about the program before hand, so they have nothing to fear, right?

I think all the information should be released too... except anything that would compromise ongoing investigations.. security issues - informants. Suspects etc. Though it doesn't sound like that is the issue...

I agree, but it ain't going to happen. If they don't want to comply (which it's pretty clear they don't), they'll simply cite State Secrets privilege and it'll go into the annals of conspiracy theory history.

The documents will eventually be turned over, after the election.

What happened to Barry and his transparent Government?

I am beginning to get a very distinct feeling that Obama does not want to be re-elected.
