Been going through lots of old VHS tapes that are stored in my office area, finding lots of
great footage, and musical performances. One of them is from a Black Arts Festival, but no indication of what year. Probably the 1990's, since it was at Glen Oak Amphitheatre.
I took some of the acts, including Brianna Thomas, Destiny, another singer, couple of dance groups, put them on a JT's Bourbon St. LIVE edition, along with some Steamboat Days Idols Singers, and other talent acts. Here is the link to the broadcast. If anyone can identify the year of the Black Arts Fest, I'd appreciate it.
She sang, with the accompaniment of guitarist Joe Metzka and occasional guest David Hoffman (who was Ray Charles' trumpet player) at my restaurant every Monday night. Usually drew a huge jazz society crowd. I actually have a (very rough) 2 CD recording of her, Joe and David.
I like your idea, except Brianna has appeared at several Black Arts Festivals. I do have her as a Facebook Friend of the Bourbon St. LIVE account. I may have her take a look at it, see if she can identify the year.
She's been doing all kinds of jazz gigs in NYC. How I wish I could drive there with camera
gear and get new video of her performing!
