It is time to get the right to carry. You will have to go through a background check, waiting period, and a training course.

I think a person might think twice before robbing someone if they know this person may be armed.

Why let these thugs on the street be the only ones that have guns. There are many stats telling if you give the right to carry the violent crimes will go down.

It is time Peoria!!

You mean Illinois right? And, by Illinois, you might as well just say Chicago, because they are the ones that do not want a concealed carry law on the books.

Right on, Riverman! Did you go to the conceal carry rally last weekend downtown? I hear they had a good crowd and got some decent press. Next one will be a lot bigger ...

We wouldn't need the right to carry if they would make laws so severe that any illegally use or possession of a firearm would get you 30 year minimum, no time off for good behavior, no parole, in the clink. When you have a burglary conviction and two felony firearm convictions under your belt and THEN get a "possession of a stolen firearm by a felon" conviction and get TWO YEARS PROBATION, we need to get some new laws, judges, SOMETHING that isn't going to let these people walk.

Oh, and I'm all for concealed carry.

A new U.S. Attorney was just sworn in last week in Springfield, and Congress has sent a reduction in the sentencing guidelines to the President for his signature...may be a good time to petition for increased enforcement of gun crimes. God knows they won't be prosecuting all the crack dealers any longer, so federal prosecutors will be trolling for stats to keep their jobs.

No i did not. I didn't even know about it. I did have a concealed liscence in Iowa when I lived there. I only used it when hunt, trapping. I needed it because I always carried it under my Carharts. I did take it twice to a rough place in Des Moines.

I loved the people that think we should just make it harder to get guns. They must think the criminals are going into Presleys, Gander Mountain and buying them.

My dad alway said- I have never seen a gun walk down the road and shoot someone.

They will still be prosecuting crack dealers they just made the mandatory sentencing more in line with what they are for cocaine.

I can almost guarantee prosecutions will drop by 50%, if not more. Once dealers find out that the 5 year mandatory minimum is applicable at 28 grams under the new law, rather than 5 grams under the old law...they will begin carrying less than 28 grams. The feds won't touch it if they don't get hefty sentences. They'll let the state prosecute it.
