Garage sale - I need some information
By: babyphat

My neighborhood will have a garage sale this weekend. I have a lot of good stuff, everything in good condition but I have no idea how to price it. I've never had a garage sale before.
I need some pricing ideas.
I have a lot of
- baby items
- kids clothes
- kids shoes
- toys (lot of small ones and puzzles)
- adult clothes
- adult shoes
all of them in very good condition. Also any other information related to this will be appreciated .

50 cents on shirts, 50 cents on shorts, 75 or a buck on pants if it's brand name. Puzzles? A buck maybe. Toys, a couple bucks tops.

Remember, the goal is to get rid of your crap....secondary goal, to make a few bucks doing it. Price your stuff too high and people will sniff and walk away.

@1ITGuy:

Actually, if I ever have another garage sale, I'd double the price of what I want to make on it. The only garage sale I've ever had, almost every person asked if I would take less than what on the item. Then they might think they are getting bargains and buy more crap since I'm an easy mark.

I take my "stuff" to The Church Mouse". I stocked up on sleepers for the boys at 50 cents each. I realize branded resale shops have training programs they support, but if the goal is to get items to people who really need them, then The Church Mouse, The Dream Center, or The Friendship House are the way to go

As far as pricing, a visit to The Baby Shoppe at the corner of Frye & Knoxville may give a clue on toys and other baby items.

@1ITGuy:

Seeing how everyone loves the dollar stores, we price everything at $1 and advertise as such, with exceptions for obvious higher priced items or smaller things which might be 2 or 4 for $1.

It works out well for us and whatever is left gets donated because as 1ITGuy says, "the goal is to get rid of your crap"
