i think he's right. if you were true christians then you'd call yourselves christians and not jehovah's witness.

A christian is an act not name as you so call it. First of all, a christian is not to kill. We preach and stand for what other religions wont. We know Gods name and we stand for it. As the Bible states///////////// (Micah 1:2) 2 “Hear, O YOU peoples, all of YOU; pay attention, O earth and what fills you, and let the Sovereign Lord Jehovah serve against YOU as a witness, Jehovah from his holy temple. . .
(2 Timothy 1:8) 8 Therefore do not become ashamed of the witness about our Lord, neither of me a prisoner for his sake, but take your part in suffering evil for the good news according to the power of God. . .

but christian is a name, just like lutheran, catholic, and baptist are names. they are all basically the same religion with slightly different views / interpretations. jehovahs witness may therefore refer to themselves as a type of christian, but they are not true christians in the literal sense of the word.

if you prefer to give the word your own definition to suit your needs, then there is no sense in discussing it, but i'm afraid you'll have a hard time convincing any non-JW to agree with you.

There is no definition. There are variations, and yes, each thinks they're right, and in many ways they are and in many they're not.

The bottom line is that people from different "sects" of Christianity can make all the claims to being right or wrong as they wish, but the fact is, there is only one truth. Accept Jesus as saviour. Seek out a personal relationship with God. Love God. Love each other.

That's it. THAT is it! There is no more. There is no Catechism in The Bible. There is no 1914 or chosen 144,000 in the Bible.

There is one truth and not 1 person knows the entire truth because, as is written in Isaiah 55:

“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David.
4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,
a ruler and commander of the peoples.
5 Surely you will summon nations you know not,
and nations you do not know will come running to you,
because of the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor.”
6 Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”

declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
12 You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper,
and instead of briers the myrtle will grow.
This will be for the Lord’s renown,
for an everlasting sign,
that will endure forever.”

God TOLD us how to live and what do do.
Just as I explained above. Everything else is just speculation

Don't JW's think that only the JW's will go to heaven?

kind of the same thing, isn't ...

IMO, Its really pathetic when so-called Christians judge other so-called Christians.

No Jehovahs witness dont think they are the only ones going to heaven. We will live on earth only 144,000 will go to heaven. As for judgeing people we live by the Bible to the best of our ability. Sure we have faults for we are human. A christian live by God Jehovahs words from the Bible. Hip Kat you need to look at////////////The 12 tribes mentioned in Revelation chapter 7 must refer to this spiritual Israel for several valid reasons. The listing does not match that of natural Israel at Numbers chapter 1. Also Jerusalem’s temple and priesthood and all the tribal records of natural Israel were permanently destroyed, lost forever, long before John had his vision in 96 C.E. But more important, John received his vision upon a background of the aforementioned developments from and after Pentecost 33 C.E. In the light of such events, John’s vision of those standing on the heavenly Mount Zion with the Lamb (whom natural Israel had rejected) revealed the number of this spiritual Israel of God to be 144,000 “bought from among mankind.”—Re 7:4; 14:1, 4.
///////////////////(Revelation 14:1-3) 14 And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a sound out of heaven as the sound of many waters and as the sound of loud thunder; and the sound that I heard was as of singers who accompany themselves on the harp playing on their harps. 3 And they are singing as if a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one was able to master that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, who have been bought from the earth. . .

Tape worm you say we are not true christians. We follow God Jehovahs word more so than any other. We dont kill we dont white wash any of the Bible as others do. I could go on but people say because of what I beleive we are judgeing one another.

A person needs to use logic and reason and understand the bible in the context of the culture and knowledge at the time in which was written.

Anyone who takes every word in the bible literally is doing it a big disservice. The bible is full of imagery, parables and great stories - you cannot take every word literally.

If a belief system gives comfort and strength in difficult times or leads one to treat others with care & compassion, I frankly don't care what name is given to it. How a person goes about their daily life is what matters to me, rather than what pew, if any, that person is sitting in. One person's truth does not have to be my truth for me to respect their truth and them. Religious, spiritual, agnostic or atheist - I don't care. What kind of person they are seven days a week does matter.

I won't debate whether the 144,000 are Jews or Gentiles but there are two things I do know. They are men so according to the Jw's there will be no women in heaven. They are also virgins. This excludes most of the guys I know.

Rev. 14:4
These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

TnT what does your church teach about this and how does your bible translate this verse?
