I don't believe for a second that you made it up. There is ALWAYS some sort of statistic somewhere, that explains why criminal minded @$$holes act the way they do. Society, upbringing, no father figure, peer pressure, mommy didn't breast feed, product of bad environment, ect.ect.ect.
ANY damn thing but taking responsibility for their own actions. So, now the reason those poor pitiful mis-understood gang-bangers car jacked that family on vacation was because they ate paint chips. Hmmmm? Maybe it WILL hold up in court. |

Guilty. I ride without a helmet. Yup, sure do. Occasionally I eat McDonalds, too. As for the rest, feel free to do the homework yourself. Keep in mind the paper doesn't report all the "shots fired" that don't result in injury.(which in that neighborhood, are quite frequent) As for collateral damage, I shoot back. No worry there.

The topic isn`t about how cool your life is StrayCat. This is a serious subject, and all you can add is your Joe Cool lifestyle tidbits. I am very adament about PEORIA becoming a great mid-size city again.

I think there is enough evidence to reasonably conclude that high rates of lead poisining impact the crime stats negatively. It is by no means the only factor, but it is definately a contributing factor.

I don't live my life to impress anyone. Least of all you. You don't like how I live, I won't lose sleep, believe me.
Build your city however you like. Just remember it's MY city too. Be as serious as you choose to be. I'll be how I choose to be. |

Oh Shoot SC! (figuratively, not literally...lol) I have no doubt you'd shoot back! Did I play the helmet card? I humbly apologize.
I checked the statistics ... long before I moved back home and honestly, I was left scratching my head on that one. Sure, you're always going to hear about the idiot who shot his dog while attempting to use a phone book (with very bad aim) for target practice but honestly, I've not heard a lot of actual shootings in parking lots. As far as the newspaper reporting it? Oh yeah they will... they just don't get all their facts straight and when they do the public will magnify the story. That's why when a couple people get injured in a shooting it makes the news around here. There are areas where you've got to die if you want your name in the paper. Peoria's just not that bad. If enough people stick it out this town will be ok. |

StrayCat, have you ever shot back at anyone? I seriously doubt it. Ever spent any real time in the ghetto? I doubt it.I know you think I am causing trouble with you, but I really think you are misunderstanding me. Sometimes things just rub some people the wrong way, and that can make people react accordingly.

Peoria's NOT that bad. No matter where i've lived while working, i've always come back here. The first two houses I owned were not far from that McDonalds. More toward downtown. I lived there off and on for twelve years. Then it was the Bradley area. Always older parts of town. No-one ever ran me out no matter how badly the neighborhood got. I support Peoria completely. BUT, I also support concealed carry and make no excuses for it. Like it, or don't.
