In a non religious sense... the primary thing that seperates us from the animals is our moral conscious, the ability to choose between right and wrong.

The bible tells a story describing the enlightenment of men, the point at which man acquires a moral conscious and can distinguish right from wrong. Religious leaders have coined the term "original sin" for this story, but really its the "original blessing" - if we hadn't developed a moral conscious - we would simply act out of instinct and rote learning like the animals.

So some may say we are all sinners, but I prefer to think of us as all blessed. :-)

Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship. A personal relationship with God.

seal is a dumbass AND a sinner. Just like me. Well, on one count he may be slightly ahead of me...

The difference is I have faith that Christ will forgive my sins and I will be resurrected to live with Him for eternity. Seal will not. Free will is a wonderful thing, and as always, choices made now have consequences later.

You are right in saying you are a dumbass AND a sinner, especially when you assume to think you know what I believe in.

Funny thing is, if TNT and the JW's are correct you won't be living anywhere for eternity.

I have NO fear whatsoever of death, or the consequences I may or may not face. I take full responsibility for what I do, I don't apologize for who I am or expect special treatment. Death comes to everybody, some just sooner then others, problem is nobody knows the truth about your beliefs and whether they are right or not, until somebody is resurrected and can say exactly what happened you won't know. For all any of us know, "God" might be an oriental guy that owns an Italian food chain and just ignores what is happening.

i completely disagree with that statement. there are plenty of examples of moral conscious, empathy, making difficult decisions, language, art, music, engineering, etc in nature.

i was in my late teens, contemplating all the questions that just didn't add up. when it comes to believing in God you have to acknowledge the fact that some questions will never be answered until you're dead, and when the answers to those questions are determinant as to whether or not you're convinced then that's when you have to rely on what they call faith. a lot of people claim to know with absolute certainty that there is a God, and to know with absolute certainty would imply they have an absence of faith as faith is not "knowing" but "believing". anyone who claims to "know" is therefore full of it, because such things cannot be known (see Ephesians 2:8-9).

that was step #1, realizing that "i know" and "i believe" are NOT synonymous. i guess you could say that was the pebble that started the rock slide. knowing is not believing.

Well said Tape, but that's absolutely why it's called "Faith"

It's VERY true that we don't REALLY find out until we're dead, and God just may say "You guys had it all wrong" (Including me, and others that praise Him, and serve Him each day)
BUT, and the big BUT is this.
For the atheists that really find out they were wrong upon death, it's too late. whoops

a god that doesn't give second chances, or third chances, or fourth chances, is not an all-loving god, and is not a god i'd want to spend eternity with. being wrong doesn't frighten me.
