My sister and her partner have been together for 13 years. I love them both dearly and sincerely hope they stay together for another 50.

I have nothing against gays. They are God's people, too.

I'm glad to hear that, but I have to ask. Do you share the same view as Catholics in that it isn't a sin to be gay, it's only a sin to act on it? Or do you TRULY not have a problem with homosexual relationships? And if you don't, are you just ignoring that part of the bible or do you simply interpret it differently than so many others?

I'm pretty sure the guy that played Original Peter was gay. Didn't seem like he was being judged to harshly, either. Actually, not at all.

I'm all about Stem Cell research, btw.

I actually don't have a problem with homosexuals or their relationships at all. I know exactly what the Bible says about them but I'm not going to be the one passing judgement on them--or anyone else--on how they choose live their lives. That's God's job. I also don't choose to "ignore" this part of the Bible. In fact, I'm still trying to understand it as I strongly believe their's a genetic component to homosexuality.

I DO have a problem with sexual promiscuity no matter what the sexual orientation.

Why do you have a problem with sexual promiscuity? Or rather, why should anyone elses choices that don't affect your personal life make any difference whatsoever?

Ah but you see, sometimes the choices other people make DO affect my personal life. I pay higher health insurance to cover the smokers, the diabetics, the obese, the sexually promiscuous, etc. Their lifestyle choices directly affect my wallet as well as yours.

I have a problem with sexual promiscuity when it's paraded as "the norm" by everyone and everything on TV or at the movies. I watch TV shows/movies through the eyes of my two teens and see how Hollywood desperately wants them to believe that sex ALWAYS happens in random places with random people and at the end of EVERY first date or as a "thank you for the dinner and a movie." Every girl is portrayed as a conquest and every guy is portrayed as being sexually hyper. Sadly, these are the morals that are being picked up by quite a few teens I know. It's gotten to be such a prevalent way of thinking now that my oldest wouldn't date any girls he knew in high school because they all came with reputation of having picked up an STD along the way. And these were the "nice" girls.

In reality, everyone should be taught that sex is the natural progression of a relationship between two deeply committed people--not something you give away to whomever wherever. The act itself is the most open, vulnerable way of letting someone know just how much you care about him/her. Why would you want to trash it by making it so trite?

@froggy

Sex isn't love; you shouldn't confuse the two and I hope you know it's perfectly possible to be promiscuous AND safe.

I'm all for monogamy, but I also understand that it's not for everyone all of the time. I think it's important, especially before marriage, to experiment and learn what you like and don't like. If you want to be old fashioned and "save yourself", go ahead, but most of the people I know that have gone that route say it wasn't worth it.

It certainly isn't trite, but it isn't sacred either. It's a natural desire that should be fun and explored with someone you're comfortable with, not suppressed.

The diabetics? You mean like Type 1 diabetics? Might as well include such low-lifes as those born with birth defects, those who get cancer, etc.
