That was very responsible of you, Crodseth.

Chef, I think you nailed it.

PI, Someone sure had their head up their butts when they agree to put the ass end of Walmart on that prime stretch of land. That beautiful view totally wasted on Walmart shipping and recieving. How stupid can you get.

Now that is one thing for sure that I don't believe could have happened in Peoria.

What’s scary is that it appears to be working J… And I truly hope that your right. E.P. envy over their success had better not bring a K-Mart to our River Front. Personally, I’d like to see it become a nice little area for restaurants, clubs quaint little boutiques and antique stores. But I suppose if it’s to be truly successful it’s going to need to have some type of big name store as a draw.

What they need to put in the Sears Block is an Imax theater and The Spotted Cow.

how about a castle? like, make the whole city one big walled-in castle with rooms and wings instead of houses. that'd be awesome.

Oooh...good one tape.  Can they build a moat?  That would be the schizzle.  Hell, I'd pay $2.....nay, $3 to see that.

If Marriott thought it was going to be hugely profitable to build attached to the CC, they would do it without concessions from the city.

The work will be done by the low cost bidder.  Their laborers may live in Ptown, but they aren't making sh*t.  How many well paying jobs do you think a hotel creates, maybe 12 administrators?  Compared to the couple hundred (maybe) 8 buck an hour maintenance staff.

I agree with Chef that Peoria needs to sh*t or get off the pot, but I also agree with those that mentioned that EP jumped at the offer to ruin their riverfront with a Walmart.  Haha, and they aren't even getting any taxes from it.

Because Walmart makes big promises to bring good jobs if they can build a store and typically asks for 5 years of tax subsidies...\In a lot of places, once the 5 yrs was up, they closed to the store to "move to a better location" usually outside of that town so they can hit another one up for some tax free commercial space

Imax Chef? Are you serious? The spotted cow I could probably deal with but I'd rather see a cold stone creamery or maybe a nice little Ice Cream shop willing to stay open year round? Now there's a thought someone who don't close up once it get's a little chili. And it would also be nice if ONE, just 1 Ice Cream shop sold a little SUGAR FREE ice cream..

A nice sorbet.. a little gelato..

Maybe even a chocolatier? Put them side by side next to a Victoria's Secret.. guaranteed to be a hit.

I'd visit a soup Nazi.. You've got skills chef.. you could be our very own Peoria version of the Soup Nazi. We'd stand in line and beg I tell ya. Admit it, you like the thought of us begging. :laugh;

If Frank (owner of the Spotted Cow) put his cafe version of "The Cow" in with an Imax, people could get everything from soups to sandwiches to ice cream at a reasonable price before or after the movie. It is locally owned and not a chain.

I’m good with the spotted cow Chef… but Imax? I sure didn’t have you pegged for an Imax kinda guy. You’ve thrown me through a loop. I’m speechless. This I have to think on.
