My First Encounter With PDC People! on the Peoria.com Forums

Yesterday evening, I somehow managed to leave the "safety" of my humble abode, with its "socially isolated" shields, to meet up with a few folks at Castle's Patio Inn, a local bar & grill. Chyah, MsGem and HipKat met me for an initial icebreaking session. A few meals, a couple of drinks, and an hour or so later, we all took off for Chyah's place, where ChefKevin and Christi2 eventually made the scene as well.

We talked. We shared. We perused the website which made it all possible. We even called Flipper on the phone, taking our turns at long-distance gabbing. All in all, a great time was had. Amazingly enough, if only to myself, I even managed to go the whole night without committing a single faux pas {at least I don't recall anything} ... remarkable when considering how rusty I've grown at the art of social interactions.

In the full decade that I've surfed cyberspace, only once have I met someone who was first encountered online. Now, after being here ... what, two weeks? ... I've already met five times as many folks ... a number that's sure to quickly expand, because I've decided that this Sunday's brunch is the next ideal opportunity.

Oh hell, I make a faux pas on an hourly basis.
You're an interesting guy, with a lot of stories, I can tell.
It was nothing BUT a pleasure.
And one thing about PDC, for the most part, is that people generally take you at face value, which I like alot.
Because I KNOW I'm a social clown, with a grocery list of issues and hangups!

glad ya had a good time  . i got too meet a online  friend of 4 yrs this summer for the 1st time , we had a blast and we are so alike its not funny .

Comes from the atypical life I've led -- five cross-country hitchhiking trips ... that year I spent as a tent-dwelling beach bum ... the time when I single-handedly grew an entire crop in those Santa Cruz mountains -- yada yada, blah blah blah.

Shadow, it was very nice meeting with you as well. Next time I won't be quite so fuzzy headed...lol I think that was the first time in close to 8 years that I've come that close to being brain buzzed... my newest resolution, never drink vino with JnJ prior to forum get togethers.
