Without any question it was on 9-11. We were flying from Germany back to the States. East of Montreal the captain came on and said what happened and we were turning back to Germany but first there would be a refuleing stop in Ireland--5 1/2 hrs away. There was a terrifying silence on the plane like you cant imagine. It was all compounded as the captain had been told 50,000 were dead.
We landed back in Germany and the plane was totally surrounded by police cars as we parked in a remote part of the airport. Police came on board with machine guns and stood watch as everyone got off the plane. When we got off the plane were told all flights to the USA were canceled indefinitely. After that the ATMs didnt work more often than they did and likewise for the credit cards. Nothing even begins to compare to that experience. * This message has been revised. |

Sonogram for a lump in my breast.
And anytime I'm put under anesthesia I worry I will never see my husband and kids again. It's actually when they make you sign the waiver that you know there 'could be' complications. I'm crying every time. |

Facing my daughter and telling her about my breast cancer diagnosis just a couple of years after her father had died. That was worse than the diagnosis itself since my prognosis was good. That was 1997 and I am still going strong.

A couple years ago when my youngest ( a son ) was diagnosed with a form of Leukemia.
Thanks to the awesome doctors at the Illinois Cancer Center ( rt 91 ) he is now in remission but will be on his med for life and have periodic blood tests. |
