How about the fact that the day AFTER Jim Henson's company said they wouldn't supply toys for the company's kid's meals because of the issue, Chick-fil-a issued a press release saying the toys were pulled because of safety issues. It's all good to stand for what you believe in, but stand behind in 100% and don't try to weasel out of the PR $hit$torm you created.
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/jim-henson-comp http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/coincidence And to top it off, it appears that the company has made "fake" facebook profiles in order to stem the tide of the $hit$torm. http://www.forbes.com/sites/kashmirhill/2012/07/25/c * This message has been revised. |

Disagreement does not equal hatred. Chick-Fil-A doesn't support "hate groups." They support groups that oppose same-sex marriage.

Not supporting same-sex marriage means you don't support equal rights for all Americans, and that is discrimination. I call it hate.

I could just as easily say that supporting same-sex marriage means you don't support religious freedom for all Americans, and that is discrimination.

I think it's pretty chicken $hit that Chick-fil-a doesn't just get all loud and proud and say "We're a family company and we hate fags." Just own it....all this mealy mouth b.s., back pedaling, etc....shows how completely out of touch they are with consumers. Like they're SURPRISED folks would be offended by their stance!

@lanestar7:
Wikipedia took that quote out of context. He was commenting on the Lawrence v. Texas ruling. He was not giving an FRC policy statement. @tapeworm: Churches/pastors could be sued for discrimination if they refused to marry same-sex couples if same-sex marriage were legally declared a civil right, for instance, even though marrying same-sex couples would violate their religious beliefs. Catholic Charities can no longer provide adoption services because the state was going to force them to place adopted children in same-sex households, which goes against their religious beliefs. |

@cjsummers
umm same-sex marriage being a civil right does not "require" a church to marry same-sex individuals, same as they're not "required" to marry opposite-sex individuals if they don't see fit. likewise for adoption. this has nothing to do with your religious freedom and everything to do with you wanting to dictate others. forcing irreversible circumcision on children is another great example; it isn't about you or your beliefs, it's about equal rights for everyone, most importantly the right to choose for oneself. if you honestly believe you have the right to tell others that they don't (and shouldn't) have the same rights as you, then you are a disgusting, horrible human being and i have no interest in discussing this further with you. |

@tapeworm:
Well, it already has had an effect on adoptions by faith-based organizations, so you're incorrect about the ramifications on religious freedom. Your other comments are presumptuous and hateful, so I see no benefit in furthering this discussion. |

@ cjsummers AND @ tapeworm
How in the world (CJ) does calling a fast food company CEO out on his beliefs have anything to do with adoption? FWIW, the Catholic Church would be well served reviewing the recent reports on Penn State. But that's the problem, the Catholic Church gets to hide behind their "non-profit" and religious status.....despite the billions of medicaid/medicare (read: taxpayer) dollars they accept each year. The Affordable Care Act is an attempt to make the Catholic Church play by the same rules as everyone else. I could care less if the CEO of that chicken place hates gays....but knowing he's a bigot helps me decide where I choose to spend my money. I'm more peeved that now he's been called out, he's trying to duck and weave..... |
