Obama Weakens Immigration Laws

Obama basically said today his administration won't deport young illegal immigrants...a large aspect of the DREAM act that has been blocked by Congress. Why even have Congress?

If Congress does not like it, they know what they can do.

If I remember my grade school civics class...

Legislative branch = creates legislation
Executive branch = enforces legislation
Judicial branch = inteprets legislation

The legislative branch doesn't seem to be doing their part in the system, instead settling for uncompromising stalemates, so I don't know why we're expecting the executive and judicial branches to do their jobs either.

Politically speaking, it doesn't really matter. This will go the same way as the Obama Administration's lack of enforcement of DOMA... it'll end up bogged down in the courts when someone sues for not enforcing the laws and probably won't get settled until after the elections. In the meantime, it's a great bone for Obama to throw the Hispanics before the elections, and might force Mitt's hand into signing Rubio in officially as VP candidate to try to woo some of the Hispanics back over.

Ethically speaking, I think it does make sense. If a kid is smuggled across the border when he's 3 or 4 years old and grows up here, seems a little brash to deport them after a decade or two. It's not their fault they're there illegally. (Side note: all three there/they're/theirs in the same sentence being used appropriately... take note, world.) We should be making the path to citizenship easier for those illegals rather than spending our tax dollars tracking them down and deporting them to wherever.

Barry has been refusing to Uphold the Laws since he took office, he and Holder need to be brought up on charges.

The Dream Act, is a complete set of bull**** ideas to create more Illegals entering the country.

While I agree with this in principle, having lived on the southwest border for 20 years, I also realize that this type of thing is exactly what entices Mexican citizens into coming over illegally. The hope of a better life, and in this case ultimate citizenship for their children. It's a double edged sword.

Drive two people to a liquor store, they rob it you are an accessory. Same situation.

If you are here ILLEGALLY you are ILLEGAL, same as any other criminal.

So if a parent has their 5 year-old in the car while they rob a liquor store are they an accessory?

The parent is.

If you are here ILLEGALLY and get caught, OUT you go..I don't care how old you are or how you got here.

I changed my mind. I hope Obama gets the boot.

Maybe Romneybot can come in and clean up all those abortion clinics and birth control loving hippies.

The parent is an accessory to his or her own crime? Or in your example did the 5 year old rob the liquor store?

Doesn't have to be both parents committing the robbery, could be one and a friend while the other drives the car..Lots of scenarios here.

Take off your, ILLEGALS are great blinders and see it for what it is; a foreign invading force.

I have been following the story of Jose Antonio Vargas. If this executive order gets congress off their duff, either now or after the forthcoming election, then I say, "GREAT". Immigration reform has been a talking point for too long. It is time for progress to be made. As Mr. Vargas and others in the Time Magazine piece state, they only know life in the US and in their hearts, consider themselves to be American. We are not talking about the criminal element here. Heaven knows, we have enough of the home-grown variety. You go to school, serve in the military, be productive individuals and you can stay legally (if only by way of a time-limited work permit). Makes good sense to me. It is time for real reform, but at least this is a stop-gap measure that gives the issue some time for resolution.

You're off your bubble. And I don't see them as "illegals" without first seeing them as human beings.

I'm all for securing the border, but the ones who were brought here as toddlers and raised as Americans, knowing nothing BUT America...that's another issue altogether.

I know you just see brown skin, and for you that's enough for a determination of guilt.

The problem with this is, as it was stated earlier, this will give further enticement for parents to bring their kids over...creating more illegal immigration.
