I'll bring popcorn when you show the movie.

We've had a similar shed/barn built in our neighborhood too. I wonder how they got a building permit for it? But its three houses down, so I can't see it from my house. I do wonder what the immediate next door neighbor thinks though.

IMO, if an outbuilding is bigger or taller than the residence, its a barn.

Code Li.its fences to 6 ft, which my fence is just under, I think... It surely Kent any taller than 6 ft.

The city code says that it must be shorter than the residence. And all structures combined must cover less than 50% of the yard space.

Looking from your backyard, I don't argue the fact that it is unsightly from your view. That being said, I'm a firm believer that people should be able to build whatever they want on their own property. City, county, state and even federal regulations on our personal freedoms have gotten out of hand.

When you live in close proximity to others, there is bound to be a clash of interest amongst neighbors.

I don't like people, in general, so I don't live near them.

So following your logic, I can hire out my small back yard for a cell company to build a cell tower....

Absolutely. It's your property, do whatever you want with it.

My nearest neighbor is about 200 yards away. He likes to shoot his guns (as do I). We have mutually agreed not to shoot at each other. All is good.

(I would sell out to a cell tower in a heartbeat. My buddy gets about $1200 a month for his).

When you have a property of that size, it is easy to have a "do whatever you want" attitude.

When you live in a subdivision, you should treat your neighbors with respect and demonstrate some common courtesy. I disagree with Dave's "if it feels good do it" logic in the above post. That's just frickin rude. You can never go wrong with the Golden Rule.

If our properties were that big I would have no problem with the barn. Hell I might have one myself.

I'm not knocking anyone for living in close proximity to others. I'm just saying that when people live so close to one another, there needs to be a certain amount of tolerance (and respect). I think your neighbor disrespected his neighbors by building a shed that size...but on the other hand I support his right to build it.

It has nothing to do with "feeling good", JnJ. I support a person's right to be rude as well.
