We are using Spring Green, as are quite a few neighbors who recommended them to us in our neighborhood. I think the lawns speak for themselves and so far we are pleased.. dandelions gone.. (and our next door neighbors are a breeding ground for these!) clover is almost gone.. grass is thicker and greener. Now, if we can get a little rain through the summer..

Thanks, SAHM. I've used them before. I was pleased but dropped them because they kept tele-marketing me for more services.

@ITGuy - I'm familiar with google. If that was the answer to everything why have a forum?

I do my own lawn, spread, spray, get down on my knees and pray. Right now the problem is lack of rain. If you have new grass, you can water it, but that just doesn't do what a good rain does. The heat & lack of rain also tends to make crabgrass grow. Even if you'ved used a preventer. Right now the best thing you can do is water. Alot. Also check for grubs. They can brown out a lawn in no time.

It's not the answer to everything, but it is the answer to many questions like yours. Ironic that SAHM mentioned that she uses the number one map result in Google, and that you, at one point, did too. Also kinda funny that you dropped them for trying to sell you more service, which you ironically need now. Hmmmm...

Also, you do realize there are legitimate reviews on Google, that will probably get you better feedback than this forum? Why? Because you're asking google a specific question about a specific service in a specific reason. This is what Google does, everything they do is targeted. People right reviews based on their experiences with those companies. If you ask the same question here, you're dealing with a thousand members that don't know, and maybe two that do.

I think google and other rating sites are gamed. I will use them if I'm shopping for something insignificant. I don't consider our lawn insignificant, so would rather get a personal testimonial from someone I know has nothing to gain or lose by sharing.

Try the Peoria County Extension office. They have staff who can answer lawn questions ... or can find someone.

Gamed? I disagree. Sure, there are some reviews that are flat-out inaccurate, either inside work or the opposite, a competitor trying to sabotage a company's good name. But usually those are easy to spot, and valid reviews are usually just as easy to spot.

It's called a pattern. They're usually easy to recognize. For example, if there are 4 strong reviews and then one scathing review, and then 3 more strong reviews, I'd tend to believe the bad review was out to get the company.

Similarly, if there are a bunch of mediocre reviews and then one glowing review, I'd tend to think inside work.
