Restaurant suggestions?
Apr 26, 2012 - 08:58 pm
Well, the annual reminder of my nuptiuals (I mean, our anniversary) is coming up. I'd like to take the misses to a restaurant that's actually worth getting a little dressed up to go out to, so I'm looking for suggestions.

I had thought about a place in the heights I've been to long ago with some clients. I think it's called French Toast or something along those lines.

We've done Jim's so I don't care to do that again.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Seven on Prospect in the Heights is really good. As is Two 25, at the Mark Twain hotel. You can never go wrong with Alexander's either.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. We've done Alexanders multiple times, too. I'm looking for something different. Never been to Seven. I've been to the Two 25 before it was Two 25, I think. I was at the Mark Twain once a couple years back for a PDC get together when PDCJoe was in town.

I like Paparazzi's in The Heights. Just off the main drag. Good food. You can get in and out if you have other plans, or take as long as you like.

Other than that; Seven. Great place, good food, and the owner is a simply amazing guy. All around great business for the area.

If you can get a sitter and take her to the winery in Manito on a Saturday...I'm sure there is a Chef on here that would take care of you!...

...or, my husband and I have also enjoyed the drive to Galesburg for The Creperie
for lunch or Chez Willy's for dinner.

And if you don't mind sitting, talking and actually eating slow and relaxing a bit, we really enjoyed Noir in the Heights. It is tapas style and it's not going to undo expensive, but delicious.

Also..PV2 on Allen Road has great food.

The Chef is off this weekend for b-day celebrations. We close at 5 PM on Saturdays as we need our miniscule kitchen for catered events.

Personally, I like 2 Chez..corner of Knoxville and Pioneer Parkway. Unless you tell them to "step on it", they take a very leisurely pace..like dining should be Calamari, Pork Chop Marsala...Mmmmmm.....

I've heard a lot about Connected, maybe Chef has a recommendation on that. I haven't been there personally, so I can't weigh in besides clients talking about it.

I know Troy who owns Connected. Have eaten there twice and loved it. However, I can't help while there to think of the wild times I had when this place was Po' Boys.

I recommend Seven on Prospect. Simply amazing appetizers and entree..I LOVED the goat cheese stuffed chicken. P.S. make reservations.

Perhaps I've had off nights because I was not too impressed with Papparazzi (and neither was my then bf or another couple who went a different time), Two Chez or PVII (it tasted too salty).

I've heard June in Peo Heights is good...but VERY, VERY pricey.

Romantic/surprise/spontaneous...make/semi-make (Fresh Market?) a picnic and go to Mackinaw Vally Vineyard and hang out and drink some wine/beer walk around...simply amazing!

Everyone is going to have pros and cons on restaurants. No one restaurant is going to please/impress everyone. While some have mentioned Seven, I can't recommend the place from previous experiences. There are a lot of good restaurants around, but someone will have bad things to say about any of them. Check out menus online and go to the place where the menu suits your tastes.

She's not much for wine, so I don't know that the winery would be good.

PV2?
