I read the link, and didn't see the claim that Fox News makes 10 times more mistakes/distortions/bias than the MSM. Can you point out specifically in the article where that claim is made?

What is proven is that Fox viewers are more misinformed when tested on questions of fact compared to viewers of other networks.

Funny how this conversation is on the second page and Joepy still hasn't explained why in her opinion it's OK for NBC to doctor 911 calls to stir up racial violence.

The thread is about them doing that, and you have talked all around this subject except the point of it. My above comment was poorly worded. Let me modify by saying you haven't said that it isn't OK for them to do that.

So, I posted on the case in general... even though I've been trying NOT to watch any of the news coverage on it, because its all very over-hyped. Cripes, its on almost every channel. When I heard they had appointed a special investigator, that ended my interest in the case. Let the investigation take its course.

(of course, I also think in the year 2012 it would be a given that the civil rights act was a good thing ... but on the april fools thread that doesn't seem to be a given either.)

if you look at the charts, at the end of the second link, the approximate difference between Fox viewers and CBS viewers - is ten points...on percent wrong.

There is probably not a direct correlation in the number of distortions and the percentage points on the survey, the number of distortions needed in order to get that 10 point difference could actually be higher than 10... :-)

There is actually a good explanation for why Fox viewers score low on these surveys... I know what it is... but I'm not telling. :-)

A few things...

From what I've read, this is a gated community, but anyone can walk in from anywhere...only the main road in is gated, there's not a fence around the entire complex.

As far as the 911 calls, I read a piece the other day that had them detailed...I'm looking for it now. Not all of the calls were 911, some were to the non emergency number for pot holes, etc in the street. I'll post the link as soon as I find it.

making calls to a non-emergency number makes much more sense... I thought that number seemed excessive...

One thing that's interesting...under type of call, you see either 911 or TEL, TEL means it's a non-911 number that's answered by a dispatcher. According to this, that's the number he called to report Martin.

I agree that NBC should bring disciplinary actions against whomever edited the video, along with the producer who approved it. This is taking Zimmerman’s comments totally out of context.

But at the same time, how many times has Fox News ever conducted internal investigations on THEIR stories with soundbites taken out of context, especially on stories about Obama and the Democrats? Although not as serious as this incident, they tend to edit it to seem like a whole different meaning, just as the Today show did here.

Rush Limbaugh plays back parts of clips all the time, then boastfully proclaims, “What they’re really saying, is this…”, and twists the entire sound bite to fit HIS meaning, not the true intention of the source
