What makes you feel melancholy?

For me, one thing is when I hear old Michael Jackson tunes.

Can't help but think what a sad sad loss of life and talent.

I don't think I've ever been sad. Except for when they cancelled 'Night Court'. I really liked that show. So, yeah, the Night Court theme song does it for me.

Thinking back on some the of the good times my Mom and I had together.

When the kids were little and it was a cold snowy winter night and we were all snuggen up cozy together on the couch.

Years ago, I had a friend that would drink brandy, play Wagners "The Ring Cyle" and read the Collected Works of Edgar Alan Poe. The meloncholy would rub off on me. Since we parted ways, I have never felt that kind of meloncholy nor do I really care to.

Every time I have a moment when I realize 'life keeps going' even though my dad has passed. He doesn't get to see our happinesses in person.
