The pottery piece is only listed for delivery inside of Germany. They are using Deutsche Post.
I would suggest contacting the listing person directly before bidding. Don't bother trying to write in German or use babble fish. Just ask in English if they can ship to the United States. Odds are they know some English. Be polite.
Don't worry about the Euro pricing, your credit card can handle the currency conversion automatically.
UPS does operate in Germany. Deutsche Post can send stuff abroad too.
You may be able to avoid any import duties by having them put in the item description space, that it is a 'gift'. If that doesn't work you may have to pay the delivery man, the duty fee, when it arrives.
