When I was in Mexico City I was having lunch in the Red Light District where Gabby was known to take his lunches. I kept an eye out hoping to see one of my heroes, but avast, no luck. However "Era inevitable: el olor de las almendras amargas le recordaba siempre el destino de los amores contrariados."
Sooooo much better in Spanish!
I read "Cien Aņos de Soledad" a few years ago. What a strange book that was. Strange but riveting.
I don't have one favorite author. I tend to read a variety of books--everything from young adult to reference. I do tend to gravitate towards the Chicano authors though...Ana Castillo, Luis Alberto Urrea, Maria Viramontes, Rudolfo Anaya. All good writers.
