I'm new to the area and can't seem to find two things. Ice hockey equipment stores and bbq supplies (wood for smoking).

How much of that wood you need? I just buy the big chunks over at walmart (now you got me in trouble with a couple friends). It's only about $5 a bag and lasts a long time. I've no idea on the hockey stuff. Good luck.

I think Hearth and Patio sells wood for smokers/smoking..but I'm not sure the cost.. I'm sure it's cheaper elsewhere, but they might carry a selection. ?

I'm useless with information on either as I'm not a big hockey fan and have a secret stash of smoking wood.

I believe I've seen a hocky supply shop on War Memorial somewhere in the vicinity of the Aldi's store... I'm not sure though. One idea is to call the Owens Center at (309) 686-3366. They do a bit of hockey there and might can tell you of a local store.

That's where I saw it too. So, it must be there, then.

Kroger has a decent selection of wood chunks and chips, hickory, mesquite, apple, etc.

I just discovered the apple a couple days ago over at Kroger, was surprised. I've always known they had Mesquite and Hickory but it was the first I've seen apple. I tend to gravitate to the chunks at WalMart if I plan to smoke something big because it lasts longer so I tend to stick with Hickory and Mesquite (can’t beat the price either). But for little jobs the smaller chips available at Kroger’s is great. I'm going to give the apple a try next time.

Supposed to give a slightly sweeter taste....I'm not sure if it works or not. Last time I smoked some ribs, I used wood charcoal also, which burns pretty well.

The hockey store is on War Memorial on the south side of the street... I can't remember the name of it, but it's near Crusens and the Invisible Fence store...

I get my wood chips at Farm & Fleet in Morton. Does Dicks sporting store carry hockey supplies?

Hey.. if you can't find any wood, you can always try using those hockey sticks.
